Purpose

The IT Officer will be responsible for managing and maintaining the organisation’s IT infrastructure, providing technical support to staff and ensuring the security and integrity of our systems and data. This person is responsible for troubleshooting issues with all organization hardware, cloud and application systems within the different offices by promptly responding to user call requests, JIRA system requests and service requests. This role requires a strong technical background and excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work independently.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • B-insight software upgrades and give support to all users.
  • Install hardware and software following user requirements.
  • Troubleshooting and computer maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
  • Install, operate and maintain network services, routers, concentrators, hubs, switches, and other network devices following technical plans.
  • Resolve network communication probs in the office.
  • Install or repair windows computers with standardized applications and networking software, diagnosing and solving problems that develop during operations.
  • Respond to user questions and explain the operation of network applications and equipment.
  • Support the IT manager in offering remote support to users using the appropriate software.
  • Troubleshoot any network related hiccups and act as the main point of contact person between the organization and the internet service providers.
  • Provide first line support technical support and problem resolution for hosted applications, computers, printers, copiers and wireless/network issues.
  • Ensure all routers are top-up and maintained.

 

Technical support

 

  • Maintain and support the organization’s mobile devices (tablets)
  • Offer technical support to the operations department on all IT related needs e.g. laptops, CCTV cameras, printers, desktop, projectors, monitors etc.
  • Provide staff capacity building on IT related areas.

 

Inventory

  • Ensure all office IT equipment is appropriately tagged
  • Ensure all IT equipment is accurately updated in the inventory management system for cost control and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure Program- Asset maintenance and control
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor.

 

Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in IT support, system administration or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in operating systems, networking and software applications is an added advantage
