Purpose

The IT Officer will provide hands-on technical and operational IT support to BRAC Liberia’s AIM Programme field offices and country office. The role focuses on ensuring consistent availability and performance of IT systems, networks, devices, and digital tools used by programme and operations staff. The IT Officer will work under the direct supervision of the IT Manager and is expected to be a reliable, field-ready resource for all technology-related support needs.

Key Responsibilities:

IT Support & Helpdesk

  • Provide first- and second-line IT support to staff at assigned field offices and the country office.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues on laptops, tablets, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Log, track, and resolve IT support tickets in a timely manner, escalating to the IT Manager when required.
  • Maintain a log of all repairs, replacements, and maintenance activities.

Network & Infrastructure

  • Configure, monitor, and maintain routers, switches, and WiFi access points at field office locations.
  • Ensure consistent internet connectivity and perform regular bandwidth checks and top-ups.
  • Support LAN/WAN administration, IP addressing, and network security across assigned sites.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining power backup and contingency systems for network infrastructure.

Systems & Application Support

  • Support BInsight software operations, including user access management, data entry, and issue resolution.
  • Assist in the administration of the sbiCloud HR module for staff records and related processes.
  • Support deployment and use of digital data collection tools (ODK/ONA forms) for programme MEAL activities.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and updating of operating systems and enterprise applications.
  • Ensure anti-virus and endpoint security tools are installed, updated, and operational on all devices.

Asset & Device Management

  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all IT assets (laptops, tablets, printers, projectors, accessories) with proper tagging.
  • Manage the issuance, return, and condition tracking of devices assigned to staff.
  • Support bulk printing of participant ID cards (PVC/paper) using ID card printers and associated software.
  • Coordinate procurement follow-up and liaise with the IT Manager for hardware replacement needs.

Capacity Building

  • Conduct end-user training sessions for staff on IT tools, systems, and best practices.
  • Prepare simple user guides and quick reference materials for commonly used applications.
  • Support onboarding of new staff with IT setup, accounts, and device configuration.

Safeguarding

  • Implement all tasks keeping the safety and dignity of programme participants at the centre.
  • Complete mandatory safeguarding training and adhere to BRAC’s safeguarding policies and reporting channels.
  • Report any safeguarding incidents witnessed or experienced to the Safeguarding department.

Other Duties

  • Perform any other IT-related duties as assigned by the IT Manager or senior management.
  • Be available and responsive when called upon for urgent IT support needs, including during field visits.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Diploma or BSc in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field
  • Professional certification in CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent IT support qualification.

Experience:

  • Experience working in an NGO or development sector environment. Familiarity with MEAL systems, digital data collection tools (ODK/ONA), and ERP/MIS platforms.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in IT support, system administration, or network management

Required Skills, Competencies & Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of hardware troubleshooting, OS installation, and virtualization platforms.
  • Working knowledge of LAN/WAN administration, TCP/IP networking, and wireless configuration.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, user account management, and access control.
  • Understanding of data backup and recovery processes and IT security principles.
  • Awareness of IT infrastructure components including servers, switches, UPS, and endpoints.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and common enterprise productivity tools.
  • Ability to configure and maintain routers, WiFi access points, and network devices.
  • Basic skills in database management and digital data collection tool administration.
  • ID badge design and printing using PVC card printers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Team player with a collaborative attitude and willingness to support cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
  • Mobile and flexible — willing to travel regularly to field offices across assigned regions.
  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and gender awareness.
