JOB SUMMARY

A major company is seeking to hire a professional to serve as Learning and Development

Superintendent (“L&D”). The L&D Superintendent will lead Human Resources Development at all company’s operations and contribute to the setting of company’s strategic direction with an emphasis on employee development, talent management, localization, and succession planning, to ensure the needs of employees and other stakeholders are met.

The Learning and Development Superintendent is a member of the HR Team and will contribute to the day-to-day operations of the HR Department. The L&D Superintendent is expected to create training events for all employees, from initial inductions to leadership programs for employees.

The Learning and Development Superintendent will fundamentally assist in the company’s success, by coaching and developing its staff. It includes the creation and delivery of training programs. Designed with leadership, management, business and personal progression and best practice in mind, the intention is to expand on the talents and skills across all employees at all levels within the corporation.

Essential Functions

  • Creating training programmes that are aligned with the employees’ objectives and having a strong understanding of what these are.
  • Acting as the Contact person for the Organization for anyone with questions or queries regarding training and development plans
  • Working closely with various Heads of Departments across the organization and having a full understanding of their units and training requirements
  • Embracing different styles of training techniques, including e-learning, tutorial sessions or coaching
  • Building relationships with third party training providers
  • Managing the development of all employees from a training perspective
  • Managing the company’s scholarship Programs, consistent with its operational agreements and corporate social responsibilities strategies

Developing training curriculums for all departments and for a vocational School (i.e., values)

Required Education and Experience

  • Tertiary Qualifications (bachelor’s degree/ Diploma) in a related discipline
  • Masters in human resources management will be an added advantage.
  • 5 years of progressive HR experience in Capacity building and staff development Having mine experience is an added advantage

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and show a commitment to understand local culture.
  • Able to construct systems that are the best method now and sustainable into the future.
  • Seeks to engage with all people associated with the Company’s Operations and to understand, learn from and share cultural differences.
  • Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas

Computer Skills:

  • Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications. Communication Skills:
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Confident communicator with senior management and external stakeholders
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills.
