ABOUT STREET CHILD OF LIBERIA
Street Child of Liberia (SCOL) was registered as a Liberian NGO in 2013 and works in partnership with UK
registered charity, Street Child UK and Sierra Leone partner organisation, Street Child of Sierra Leone (SCoSL).
Together the Street Child Group has been working to give out of school children the opportunity to gain an
education since 2008.
Street Child of Liberia is a leadingnational NGO undergoing significant expansion. Currently we have 50
Liberian staff, with primary operations in Monrovia and field stations in Maryland, Margibi, Grand Cape
Mount& Maryland, with further plans to expand nationwide. To date, we have received funding from DfID,
Comic Relief, the Liberian government’s flagship Partnership Schools for Liberia program, Geneva Global and
several other private and national funders.
Learning Support Officers
The Field Education Officerswill be responsible for overseeing 2 to 3 Schools within the LEAP program. They
will work closely with Teachers, Principals and the Community, to support the Street Child Education Teamwith
improving student learning outcomes.
Key Objectives:
• Support schools to improve students’ learning outcomes
• Support teachers in improving the quality of their teaching
• Support principals in managing the school, teachers and students effectively to create a conducive
learning environment
• Support PTA’s to play an active role in school on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that the parents are
supporting the principal, teachers and students.
• Support the rolling out of the TARL model in the respective schools
• Implementing interventions that are based on the global SC Education Impact Model.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct daily visits to schools to:
o Observe classes and teachers, and provide feedback to the teachers on how they can improve
their teaching.
o Support the principal in his/her duties and ensure they are managing the schools appropriately.
Identify areas for improvement.
• Provide extra training/ workshops and individual support for teachers
• Conduct activities with parents and the communities
• Provide the Street Child of Liberia Education Team with bi-weekly reports on the schools progress
• Support the writing of school improvement plans
• Facilitate meetings with principals in your cluster to learn from each other and share experiences
• Plan and conduct Teacher Training together with the Street Child of Liberia Education Team
• Collaborate closely with the data officers to help inform support to schools and teachers
• Evaluate the progress of students and teachers on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications and Experience:
• A bachelors degree in Education, Management or related field
• At least five years experience in Education
• More than three years in a relevant project management or leadership role.
• Demonstrable experience in NGO work particularly in implementing TARL Model desirable
• Extensive experience in community engagement
