About Hilltop Schools
Hilltop Schools is a new Liberian NGO that will work to promote children’s rights to education,
health, and protection. We envision an organization of high impact and integrity. Hilltop
Schools was launched to carry on the activities and mission of More Than Me following its
closure. Hilltop Schools is committed to leveraging the best prior work of More Than Me with
improved Liberian leadership, governance, and accountability.
Role Summary
Hilltop Schools, Inc. (HSI) seeks to retain the services of a Legal Counsel to serve as Consultant
and Attorney-In-Fact to provide advice and representation on legal issues pertaining to HSI.
Therefore, the Legal Counsel is to provide the following services, as well as others that may
come under the legal sphere:
 Provide accurate, timely and effective legal advice to HSI upon request;
 Advise HSI on legal matters, suggesting courses of action;
 Represent, defend, and prosecute all cases involving HSI in the courts of the Republic of
Liberia;
 Advise HSI on its legal rights and obligations;
 Interpret and explain the law clearly to HSI, through its Executive Director or a designee;
 Provide assistance on IPR issues;
 Prepare, review and finalize all legal contracts and advise HSI on the impact,
interpretation and implementation of new policies and legislation;
 Handle all administrative legal hearings or investigations, labor and immigration matters
as required;
 Give advice/ suggestion on amendment, supplement where need to protect the legal
rights and interests of HSI under mutually agreement by the Parties and applicable laws;
 Participate in the meetings between HSI and counterpart, support HSI and participate in
negotiation process (if so required); and
 Update the HSI with the circulars and reminders in respect of statutory obligations under
the Laws of Liberia with a notice to HSI with a brief version of the updated content.
