Position Title: Liberia Refinery Sales and Marketing Manager

Reports to: Refinery Managing Director

Location: Liberia, Monrovia

About Conex Petroleum Refinery Company

Conex Petroleum Refinery Company (“RefineryCo”) based in Monrovia, Liberia. The primary asset of RefineryCo is a 10,000 barrel per day topping refinery which is currently being built in Monrovia. The refinery will produce Naphtha, Fuel Oil and AGO for the Liberian market and neighbouring countries (Sierra Leone and Guinea). The growth strategy of RefineryCo is to add a reformer and produce gasoline as well as increasing capacity to 50 000 barrels per day.

Job Summary

Execute the commercial plan of the Liberia refinery. The primary function of the commercial, sales and marketing manager is to continually identify, evaluate and optimize the asset program; this is attained through conducting in-depth market assessments including but not limited to for instance market outlooks, economic and financial evaluation, oil and products pricing forecasts, competing scenario planning, and driving maximum sale of the products.
The primary role is to develop business cases to support profitability and growth targets of the refinery. This key role requires a strong leader with proven sales and marketing experience.

Accountabilities

  • Work in liaison with the operations team to identify growth opportunities and assess value creation initiatives.
  • Monitor refinery performance and economical drivers to provide proper directions for plant optimization and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develops and implements the sales and marketing strategy for the company
  • Negotiates, develops and manages all commercial agreements to optimise the Company’s commercial interests
  • Provides commercial support on all operations and development work
  • Leads procurement of all materials for the refinery
  • Ensures commercial practices comply with industry and regulatory requirements
  • Identifies and develops growth opportunities for the company
  • Drives the sale and marketing of the refinery products
  • Optimize the sourcing of crude oil with Gemcorp Commodities Trading
  • Manage trading and logistics of crude oil and refinery products
  • Actively participates in and promotes company health and safety campaigns, policies and procedures, and ensures personal safety and that of colleagues at all times

 

Education and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in oil and gas and marketing
  • Significant Techno-commercial experience

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Plans and meets deadlines. Maintains a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of management. Hours may be long and irregular.
