Project Description
The purpose of the USAID Food Security, Nutrition and Resilience (FSNR) Activity in Liberia is to improve Liberia’s food and nutrition security and households’ resilience. This is a five-year activity that will target smallholder farmers, subsistence farmers, cooperatives, women, and youth groups in rural and peri-urban communities. The program will be based in Monrovia, Liberia and provide programming in Lofa, Bong, Nimba, Margibi, Grand Bassa, and Montserrado communities.
Position Description
RTI is seeking a Livelihoods and Resilience Specialist for the USAID Food Security, Nutrition and Resilience (FSNR) Activity in Liberia. The Resilient Agricultural Production Lead will be responsible for strengthening ability to sustainably produce a diverse mix of nutritious and high-value crops using climate-smart agriculture practices.
This position will be based in Monrovia, Liberia and will report to the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP).
Your primary responsibilities will but are not limited to:
Supports the design and implementation of resilience- and livelihood-focused activities, including strategy and activity alignment.
Monitors program and project quality at outcome and impact levels.
Facilitates evidence-based organizational learning processes and promotes innovation for continuous programming impact.
Provides technical guidance and oversight to project staff, partner staff, and other key stakeholders, including government officials, grantees, and technical counterparts.
Supports engagement with key stakeholders on resilience focused initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of experience, Master’s degree and 6 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated understanding and experience in resilience, food security analysis, agricultural market systems, or other topics related to chronic food insecurity and vulnerability at all levels.
Knowledge and experience providing technical and management leadership to complex projects that connect research and analysis with project implementation.
Familiarity with international food assistance, emergency response, and humanitarian assistance policies is a plus.
Previous experience working on a donor-funded project a plus.
Experience in delivering training to a variety of actors.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop excellent relations with donor officials and key local stakeholders.
Proficiency in English is required.
Ability to work and travel throughout Liberia.
