Job description: Logistics Officer, Programme Countries 1

Job purpose

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Logistics Officer will be responsible for a broad range of logistical activities which include supplier performance management, warehousing, international freight and customs clearance, asset management, facilities management, and other duties as and when required by management.

Warehousing management

  • Manage the security of the warehouses and all the stocks and materials Ensure the warehouse is in good condition e.g., no leaks, pests/rodents etc by carrying out weekly inspections
  • Ensure stock floor plan in warehouse is strategically laid out to ensure good utilisation of space and easy access
  • Over the proper stock movement in line with warehouse manual Identify and report damaged and/or expired goods
  • Manage all stock in the warehouse,
  • Document and monitor fuel receipt, storage, and requisitions Observe Health & Safety Standards and ensure all staff adhere to them Ensure compliance to warehouse guidelines and organisational policies and procedures
  • Compile monthly reports of all stock movements and reconcile physical stock against ledger balance and provide justification for variance
  • Ensure effective use hired of Casual Labourers for the loading & unloading of stock

Other

  • Conduct routine or unannounced stock takes in Mary’s Meals warehouse in coordination with the Logistics Manager and Programmes department Work with Revenue Authorities to apply for tax waivers on goods purchased and imported by Mary’s Meals
  • Any other reasonable task as requested by management.

Qualifications, skills and experienceEssentialDesirable
Degree in Supply Chain and Logistics, Business, or any other related disciplines
At least three years of experience working in a similar capacity for a reputable company or INGO
Results oriented experience working with and managing the performance of strategic suppliers
Experience working with Revenue Authorities, Port authorities, 3PL companies in a similar capacity
Experience overseeing facilities and working knowledge of maintenance (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.)
Proficient skills in Microsoft applications, principally Word and Excel
Experience in stock management, food and commodity accounting
