MISSION/CORE PURPOSE
The Manager, Logistics and Warehouse is responsible for overseeing end‑to‑end logistics, warehousing, and inventory management operations to ensure timely, cost‑effective, and efficient movement, storage, and availability of goods. The role ensures compliance with company policies, regulatory standards, and service level agreements while supporting business continuity and operational excellence.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
 

Key Responsibilities

Logistics Management

· Plan, coordinate, and monitor inbound and outbound transportation activities.

· Manage relationships with logistics service providers and transport partners.

· Optimize distribution routes and delivery schedules to reduce costs and improve service levels.

· Ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to internal departments and external partners.

Warehouse Operations

· Oversee daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, and dispatch.

· Ensure proper storage, handling, and safeguarding of inventory and company assets.

· Implement warehouse layout optimization and process improvements.

· Ensure accurate stock records and system updates.

 

Inventory Control

· Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability and turnover.

· Conduct periodic stock counts, audits, and reconciliations.

· Investigate and resolve discrepancies, losses, or damages.

· Ensure adherence to FIFO, FEFO, or other inventory management principles where applicable.

 

Compliance & Risk Management

· Ensure compliance with health, safety, security, and regulatory requirements.

· Enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and internal controls.

· Identify operational risks and implement mitigation measures.

 

People Management

· Lead, supervise, and develop logistics and warehouse staff.

· Set performance goals, conduct appraisals, and provide coaching.

· Ensure adequate staffing and training to meet operational needs.

 

Reporting & Cost Control

· Prepare operational, inventory, and performance reports.

· Monitor logistics and warehousing costs and identify cost‑saving opportunities.

· Support budgeting and expense management initiatives.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

· Inventory accuracy and turnover rate

· On‑time delivery performance

· Warehouse utilization and efficiency

· Cost optimization and variance

· Compliance and audit performance

Direct reports: Managers: Corporate Performance Management; Financial Operation; Business Partnering & Support, Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Revenue Assurance and Fraud Management (RAFM), Facilities, Logistics and Warehouse.

 

Matrix reports: MTN Group

 

Key customers: Board, Audit committee, Board subcommittee

 

Key suppliers: Providers of financial services, Banks, Vendors, Regulators

 

Relations, etc:

Independent thought and Judgment:

· Setting of delegation of authority

· Proposal of counter signatory system and thresholds

· Proposals for the funding to be approved

· Disclosure of financial results and declaration of profit

· Adoption of appropriate accounting practice for business environment and company context

· Development of contingency plan for medium tern funding

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Educations:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years experience in logistics and warehouse management, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience in large‑scale operations or telecoms environment is an advantage.

 

Experience:

· Strong leadership and people management capabilities

· In‑depth knowledge of logistics, warehousing, and inventory management practices

· Proficiency in ERP and inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)

· Strong analytical, planning, and problem‑solving skills

· Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

· High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail

 

Working Conditions

  • Primarily office‑based with regular visits to warehouses and operational sites
· May require extended working hours during peak operational periods.
