Who we Are

medica Liberia (mL) formerly medica mondiale Liberia is a non-governmental women’s rights organization working in Liberia. Our organization offers support to women and girls affected by sexual gender-based violence (SGBV) and is involved with programming on women’s agency and leadership. Since 2006, medica Liberia has been implementing programs for women and girls in Liberia’s South-eastern parts and recently extended its coverage to Montserrado and Margibi Counties respectively, through funding from the German Government and other donors. The organisation’s vision is a just and violence-free society in which women and girls live in dignity. As a feminist organisation, mL advocates for the rights of Liberian women and girls and the end of S/GBV at all levels of society and politics.

Introduction

Medica Liberia is running 3 years projects in three counties namely, Montserrado, Margibi; and Sinoe: Strengthening communities and institutions to promote the psychosocial health of women and girls affected by violence and increase their protection from gender-based violence in Montserrado and Margibi Counties in the context of the Covid-19 crisis and Strengthening Direct SGBV Prevention and Response Services for Survivors in Rural Communities in Sinoe County, and ‘ Concerted Action for Zero Tolerance against S/GBV in the Mano river region’’

The project is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Pro Victimis, Bread for the World and medicor Foundation and builds upon the results and experiences of a previous project over the past years.

The project seeks to enhance community capacity to implement and manage responses to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), directly contributing to the strengthening of the ability to prevent and address the consequences of SGBV and ensure that women and girls in the Mano River Region live in an inclusive, harmonious society, free from sexualized and gender-based violence and discrimination.

In this regard, mL is looking to hire a M& E Consultant to support the Program and M&E Staff in Montserrado, Margibi and Sinoe counties, Liberia.

Position Title: M&E Consultant

Duty Station: Monrovia

Position Status/Duration: Three (3) Months duration with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.

Reports to: Head of Programs

 

  • Scope of Work and Deliverables

The consultant will lead on the following task in consultation with mL’s program and M&E staff:

  • Conduct a desk review of key relevant documents and understanding the project design and contextual framework
  • Design tools/questionnaire and methodology to collect both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Give support to produce baseline data for the program as benchmarks for future performance evaluation
  • Submit detailed methodology and procedure for routine data collection and continuous monitoring of the project activities
  • Develop a consolidated reporting tool for all mL projects.
  • Finalize monitoring charts in line with donors feedback for all mL projects.
  • Develop project monitoring, evaluation, and learning plan, including platform for effective implementation and monitoring of project activities
  • Train M&E and program staff on using the developed platform
  • Support mL team to develop questionnaire for collection of baseline data.
  • Support in regular Data synthesis and analysis
  • Submit regular comprehensive analysis report from the data monitoring platform in both electronic version and signed hard copy including recommendations.
  • Present key findings and results during validation workshop of the baseline assessment. The consultants, medica Liberia team and partners will participate in the validation workshop.
  • Provide regular capacity building support for M&E and Program Team
  • Approach and Methodology

The consultant will provide regular technical in person and online support to the M&E and Program Team.

 

Qualification and Experience

  • Individuals in the suitable team must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the fields of Social Sciences, Statistics, Demography, Research Methodologies, Development Studies, Education, and any other related fields.
  • At least 5 years’ experience working with development organizations by undertaking desk reviews, as well as rapid assessments & or evaluations.
  • The consultant team should have significant experience of collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data from surveys/assessments.
  • Development of reports and reporting tools
  • Knowledge of medica Liberia’s work is an added advantage.
