General Position Summary
The Mechanic Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of vehicles and repair equipment (mechanical instruments) used by Mercy Corps Liberia (MCL). This position combines driving duties with basic vehicle maintenance and repair tasks to support the organization’s programs and projects. The Mechanic Driver is expected to adhere to safety standards, maintain vehicle logs, fill and submit vehicle status/diagnostics checklist forms, organize rescue trips to bring back vehicles that breakdown in different locations away from the office and assist in transporting personnel and cargo to various destinations upon request from management.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Mechanic Responsibilities:
– Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, or technical problems.
– Use diagnostic tools and equipment to pinpoint issues accurately.
– Perform repairs on various vehicle components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, and electrical systems.
– Replace or repair defective parts and components using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment made available by MCL.
– Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and filter replacements.
– Analyze diagnostic test results and vehicle data to determine the cause of malfunctions. – Develop and implement effective repair solutions, advise the Fleet Team about preventive approaches that will help mitigate causes of the identified and repaired malfunctioning. 4. Documentation:
– Maintain detailed records of repairs, services, and parts used.
– Provide clear and accurate repair estimates for MCL when required.

– Ensure that all repairs and maintenance activities adhere to safety standards and regulations.
– Keep up to date with manufacturer specifications on vehicle maintenance standard. – Work with drivers to ensure the availability of safety tools on board of every vehicle before being dispatched to the field.
– Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to share knowledge and solve complex problems.
– Assist in training and mentoring junior mechanics or apprentices to support positive succession plan.

The successful individual must be willing to travel out of Monrovia. He or she must understand basic safety guidelines. Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Expertise is a MUST. Knowledge of First aid is a plus. He or she must be diligent and committed to making this world a better place.
