JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Mechanic Foreman (Heavy Duty)
CLASSIFICATION: S3
REPORT TO: Chief Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Workshop
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Repair, overhaul, maintain, and service all the company’s heavy-duty equipment
- and machinery, including forklifts, generators, trucks, and motors driven
- equipment;
- Diagnose equipment and machinery problems and determine the kind of
- repair needed;
- Troubleshoot and inspect equipment and machinery to detect faults and
- malfunctions;
- Review work orders and discuss with the chief engineer, request the Chief
- Engineer for all materials and parts needed for each job;
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on such things as fluid levels,
- hoses, brakes, tires, clutches, change filters, belts, oil, and brake fluid, clean
- and lubricate equipment and machinery;
- Test repair equipment and machinery for proper performance;
- Make sure the tools and equipment assigned for work are properly
- managed and accounted for;
- Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized and in good
- condition, properly and timely clean up oil spillage;
- Adhere to the company’s environmental, safety, health, and quality
- standards;
- Supervise two heavy-duty mechanics, manage their performance/do annual
- performance review;
- Perform other related duties as assigned
POSITION SPECIFICATION (Education, Training, Experience, Skills):
- Completion of secondary school
- Vocational/technical training in heavy-duty mechanics
- Experience in heavy-duty mechanics, particularly in caterpillar generators,
- forklift, and truck repairs and maintenance
- Good tools and equipment management skills
- Ability to drive and possession of a valid driver’s license
- Willingness to learn and work in a team
- Knowledge of mechanic safety issues in the use of tools, equipment, and
machinery
- Ability to work under pressure
- Measurement skills
- Troubleshooting skills
- Analytical ability
- Must be able to read blueprint and mechanical drawings
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Problem-solving skills and computer knowledge
