RTI’s work is helping foster stronger food systems, reduce malnutrition in all its forms, build resilience and engage the next generation of food security leaders. RTI is currently partnering on nearly 30 projects in East Africa, including activities focused on private sector-driven agricultural growth in Rwanda and market systems development in Kenya.

Project Description

The purpose of the USAID Food Security, Nutrition and Resilience (FSNR) Activity in Liberia is to improve Liberia’s food and nutrition security and households’ resilience. This is a five-year activity that will target smallholder farmers, subsistence farmers, cooperatives, women, and youth groups in rural and peri-urban communities. The program will be based in Monrovia, Liberia and provide programming in Lofa, Bong, Nimba, Margibi, Grand Bassa, and Montserrado communities.

Position Description

RTI is seeking a MEL/Administrative Assistant for the recently awarded USAID Food Security, Nutrition and Resilience (FSNR) Activity in Liberia. The MEL/Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting documenting the results from monitoring and learning activities and providing administrative support on the Liberia FSNR Activity.

This position will report to the Montserrado, Margibi, and Grand Bassa Regional Capacity Building Coordinator and will be based in Monrovia, Liberia.

Your primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Assists in documenting results and data from monitoring and learning.

Assist the project and staff in organizing official business appointments;

Drafts reports on indicators and data management.

Assists in drafting the FSNR AMELP.

Assists plan and organize regional meetings, workshops and learning events in assigned areas of responsibility (AOR).

Assists / participates in the process of special studies (surveys), field monitoring, data collection and reporting.

Assists to desk review and identify innovations for implementing FSNR

Help coordinates MEL activities with FSNR Monrovia Office

Supports research activities and evaluations as part of MEL and CLA.

Takes meetings’ minutes, collects and encoding of Attendance Sheets for cost share reporting; and draft workshops/seminars and other learning event reports.

Assist in the collection/collation of data or information needed in the preparation of reports, as necessary, including collection and encoding of Attendance Sheets for cost share reporting;

Maintain a database of all incoming and outgoing communications; handle shipping/ mailing/ delivery of outgoing communications in coordination with courier;

Receive telephone calls and perform reception duties, as needed, in a professional and courteous manner; and

Performs other tasks as assigned by their supervisors.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience, Master’s degree and 1 year experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience with data collection on a donor-funded project.

Experience integrating gender and social inclusion aspects into MEL strongly preferred.

Be committed to the use of new technology and have experience with community outreach.

Proficiency in English required.

Ability to work throughout Liberia.
