Mission of the position:
The mission of the national child and youth safeguarding Coordinator is to coordinate and support the implementation of the Child and youth Safeguarding Policy and its regulations in the national association and all its programmes in order to mitigate existing child and youth safeguarding risks for children and young people who are directly and indirectly cared for and supported through SOS Children’s Villages Liberia.

Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
▪ Coordinate implementation of the Child and youth Safeguarding Policy and its key regulations in the member association.
▪ Ensure that the minimum requirements of the Child and youth Safeguarding Policy and its key regulations are met by the national association and all its programmes, provide support to programme child safeguarding teams or focal persons.
▪ Coordinate the development of national Child and Youth Safeguarding (CYS) actions during the annual planning process.
▪ Carry out the CYS national and local mapping and its update.
▪ Conduct annual child and youth safeguarding audit in all programmes of the SOS Children’s Villages Liberia.
▪ Carry out the annual CYS risk assessments at the national and in all the programmes. ▪ Prepare annual child and youth safeguarding report and submit the report to the National Director. ▪ Ensure establishment of a strong and reliable Misconduct Incident reporting and responding
procedure in the member association in line with the misconduct incident management regulation. ▪ Maintain the National Misconduct Incident Register.
▪ Contribute to the design and updating of the Misconduct Incident Paper
▪ As a member of the national misconduct incident management team, he/she needs de manage all reported CYS concerns and incidents in close collaboration with the manager of the national misconduct management team and the other members.
▪ Collect lessons learnt as well as identified challenges to ensure that relevant preventive, awareness raising and capacity building measures are planned and further implemented.
▪ Ensure that relevant child and youth safeguarding documents and tools are available to child and youth safeguarding team members or focal persons at national and programme level.

▪ Train all the stakeholders including children and young people and their origin families, community members where SOS CV Liberia works, partners, service providers on the child and youth safeguarding policy and its regulations.
▪ Identify capacity building needs on child and youth safeguarding at national level and in programmes and in coordination with HR supports development and implementation of necessary training tools and processes
▪ Facilitates internal and external knowledge sharing on child and youth safeguarding with a strong focus on prevention and capacity building
▪ Set up child and youth participation mechanisms that promote their own protection. ▪ Put in place mechanisms to prevent abuse of children and young people in the SOS care. ▪ Participate in the regional child and youth safeguarding network.
▪ Participate in all safeguarding activities and/or initiatives at the national, programme and regional level.

100% Child and youth safeguarding at the national level and in all programmes including specific projects of SOS Children’s Villages Liberia.
