Job Description: Nurse’s Aid
Location: Pediatric Outpatient Department (Ages 0–6)
Position Summary
The Nurse’s Aid will provide essential support to physician assistants, nurses, and other healthcare staff in delivering pediatric services to children aged 0–6 years at the outpatient department.
This role involves assisting with routine care, preparing children and families for procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and ensuring smooth clinic operations to enhance the quality of pediatric care.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Support
o Welcome and guide children and families through outpatient processes.
o Assist in preparing children for examinations, screenings, and immunizations.
o Provide comfort and reassurance to children and parents - Clinical Assistance
o Support nurses and physician assistants in routine tasks such as measuring weight, height, and vital signs.
o Assist with basic childcare needs (feeding support, hygiene, positioning).
o Help with first aid under supervision when necessary. - Operational Support
o Maintain cleanliness and organization of pediatric outpatient areas.
o Ensure medical supplies and equipment are stocked and ready for use.
o Assist with safe handling and disposal of medical waste. - Documentation & Communication
• Support healthcare staff in recording basic patient information.
• Relay instructions from nurses or physician assistants to parents/guardians when appropriate.
• Report any concerns about a child’s condition promptly to supervising staff. - Family & Child Care
• Provide non-clinical assistance to families, such as guiding them through clinic procedures.
• Help calm anxious children and create a child-friendly environment.
Qualification
– High school Diploma and completion of a recognized Nurse Assistant or Nursing Aide training program.
– At least three (3) years if experience or training in pediatric care, especially for children aged 0–6 years, is preferred.
– Familiarity with infection prevention and control measures in clinical settings.
