General Objectives of the Research Team:
Implementing the public health/epidemiological research in the mission according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures to contribute to mitigating the burden of maternal and perinatal deaths where MSF is present
Requirements of the Position:
Accountabilities:
- Participating in implementing research protocols and methodology including patient inclusion criteria and data management processes
- Collaborating with partners in the study, ensuring compliance to MSF protocols.
- Ensuring patients included in the research have freely given their consent to participate and have received the correct information in a format they can comprehend
- Reviewing data collection and undertaking analysis as appropriate, reporting on a regular basis to the functional referent about study progress and any relevant information for the mission/project.
- Writes a clear research report documenting the full methods and results and draws appropriate conclusions supported by the results. Where appropriate, participating in writing scientific papers.
- Managing data systems and ensuring accurate, high-quality databases
- Ensuring dissemination of findings to the community as described in the study protocol
- Participating in the development of evidence-based recommendations
Skills and experiences:
- Has skills/experiences to execute a wide range of studies as above mentioned.
- When needed, s/he can conduct daily study activities under the supervision of but in parallel with Operational Research Coordinator.
- Has rich knowledge about local social-cultural contexts and languages. S/he will be an interpreter and cultural mediator.
- SRH knowledge and experience are highly considered in the recruitment process.
- Has field experience with MSF or other NGOs (desirable).
Education:
Degree (or masters) in Public Health or Epidemiology with extensive training in statistics and epidemiology
Knowledge:
- Essential computer literacy (Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Online information management including cloud storage service, information-sharing platform, etc.)
- Essential knowledge of Epi Info, SPSS or analytical package
- Individual and focus group interviews
