Democracy International (DI) is seeking anOrganizational Development (OD)/Award Transitions Officerto provide programmatic support to the multi-year Liberia Elections And Democracy (LEAD) Activity. This is a full-time position to be based in Monrovia, Liberia.
The purpose of this new USAID/Liberia project is to support the deepening of democracy in Liberia so that elected representatives can increasingly govern in the interest of their constituents. To do so, LEAD will build the skills of future leaders to run for office and work on campaigns, support the institutionalization of civic education, and build the capacity of the election commission and civil society to manage electoral cycles.
The position would be contingent upon project award to DI.
Responsibilities:
  • The Organizational Development/Award Transitions Officer will manage and support implementation of activities related to organizational development of LEAD civil society organizational partners to prepare them for award transition (i.e. to manage USAID funds as direct recipients);
  • Support capacity building and institutional sustainability efforts, including designing curricula and providing operational support as needed;
  • Administer organizational capacity development assessments and, building on these assessments, work with partners and experts to address organizational development needs as identified;
  • Manage engagement and support of partners and operationalize partner events, activities, and networks;
  • Manage participation in collaborative activities among partners and stakeholders, and facilitate exchange of information;
  • Support M&E team to collect data on indicators as related to OD/award transitions; and
  • Liaise with Home Office management team and contribute to reporting as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, political science, social administration, development studies, management, or other relevant field; Master’s degree preferred;
  • Minimum of three years of relevant (programmatic and/or technical) experience required;
  • Specific experience conducting organizational development under USAID awards required;
  • Experience working with civil society and/or NGOs required;
  • Experience working with Liberian government agencies desirable;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple demands, prioritize, and produce high-quality work under pressure;
  • Commitment to accuracy in all tasks and attention to detail and follow-up is essential;
  • Demonstrated experience of successful teamwork and good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Liberian citizenship required; and
  • Professional fluency in English and working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools required.
