Job Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) at EMCARE Medical Clinic is responsible for providing high-quality medical care to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician. The PA will assess patients, diagnose illnesses, prescribe medications, perform minor procedures, provide health education, and support the overall clinical operations of the facility.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate professionalism, compassion, strong clinical knowledge, and excellent communication skills while promoting patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

Conduct patient consultations and physical examinations.

Obtain and document patient medical histories.

Diagnose and manage common acute and chronic illnesses.

Request and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic investigations.

Prescribe medications and treatment plans according to clinic protocols and national guidelines.

Perform minor medical procedures such as wound care, suturing, injections, and dressing changes.

Assist physicians during medical procedures when necessary.

Monitor patient progress and follow up on treatment outcomes.

Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid or emergency care when required.

Patient Care Responsibilities

Educate patients and families on disease prevention, treatment plans, nutrition, and healthy lifestyles.

Maintain patient confidentiality and professional ethics.

Ensure compassionate and respectful care for all patients.

Promote infection prevention and control practices.

Administrative Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and timely medical records.

Participate in clinic quality improvement activities.

Assist with inventory monitoring of medical supplies and medications.

Collaborate with nurses, laboratory staff, pharmacists, and other healthcare workers.

Attend staff meetings, trainings, and continuing medical education sessions.

Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Physician Assistant studies from a recognized institution.

Valid professional license/certification to practice in Liberia.

Minimum of 2 – 4 years of clinical experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of primary healthcare and emergency management.

Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Good computer and documentation skills.
