Purpose
- To promote and maintain quality community-based health care by providing medical services to all SOS communities dwellers, vulnerable youth and other SOS participants, etc. under the Community-based Health Care Supervisor.
- To represent the SOS Clinic as a good practice professional at all times.

Position Demands
- Proven work experience (at least 3-5 years) as a Physician Assistant preferably with children and other vulnerable population
- She /he must always maintain updated State Board license to practice in relevant capacity
- She / He must be computer literate.
- She /He must be capable of running a clinical routine with a high standard of efficiency, professionalism & hygiene.
- Knowledge of medical guidelines and procedures regarding patients examination, therapy, and recovery
- Must always maintain updated State Board License to practice in relevant capacity
- Must be computer literate
- Good problem solving skills and ability to multi-task
- Caring, compassionate, team player with good communication skills

Working Relationship
- The Physician Assistant reports directly to the Medical Director/Physicians any situational incidents with patients
- Seek the advice of the Supervisor on pertinent health matters affecting patients
- Should be cognizant of Psychosocial/Child Protection issues and bring same to the attention of the relevant CP/NO authorities as soon as possible
- Liaise constantly with the Medical Director/Project Supervisor and must notify and discus any or all serious clinical case/s or concern/s with him or her as soon as possible
- Maintain proper documentation, reporting, and communication standards at all times in keeping with the SOS Hand Books and good practice professional expectations

Principal Responsibilities
- Contributes to physician effectiveness by identifying patient care issues that must be address
- Informing the Medical Director/Project Supervisor about any problems or discrepancies that might arise concerning patients, staff of the facility
- Assessing patients’ health and their demands and aiming to fulfill them as well as possible through team work
- Protect patients and staff by adhering to infection control policies and protocols
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with SOS procedures, rules, and regulations
- Review patients medical history, conduct complete physical examinations, ordering diagnostic test such as x rays, ECG and laboratory studies, interpret diagnostic test, provide appropriate treatment as needed, perform medical rounds and record pertinent progress notes/data in acceptable medical charts/forms
- Make medical diagnoses and institute therapy or referrals of patient to the appropriate health care facilities based on patient needs.

Accountability
- Performance evaluation will be conducted at least 2-3 times a year by the Head Nurse /Medical. Factors which will be taken into account include but not limited to the following:
- The general health of all the patients (prognosis), children and SOS Participant attending the SOS community-based health care
- The efficiency with which the project is generally run.
- The cleanliness of the clinic.
- The management of the drugs/services available to project client’s needs.
- General attitude towards work. Community dwellers and authority
- Also, SOS Performance and Appraisal tool (IWP) will be highly considered based on given circumstances (for professional development /promotion/motivation) as need be.

Upgrading
The position grade may be increased if:- Further qualifications are gained in health / medicine and community-based health care if the SOS Project Supervisor deems necessary to improve her competency / performance level.

Child Protection & Child Safeguarding
- Protect children from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination.
- Report any CS suspicion, concern, allegation or incident immediately: IF IN DOUBT, SPEAK OUT!
- Act without delay: Failure to act may place the child in further danger.
- Involve the right people at the right time: CS reports should be made to the CS team at programme level and/or to the respective line manager.
