The Liberia Accountability and Voice Initiative (LAVI) is a USAID funded activity designed to strengthen multi-stakeholder partnerships to advocate for and monitor policy and accountability reforms. LAVI focuses on developing a portfolio of initiatives with the potential for cumulative impact around issues which have the greatest potential for change, and are responsive to locally defined priorities. In particular, LAVI works to: 1) Increase the horizontal and vertical linkages among actors involved in similar issues; 2) Increase organizational capacity of targeted civil society actors, including civil society organizations (CSOs), professional associations, trade associations, private sector and others)and private actors, to participate in issue-based reforms; 3) Promote the development of ongoing capacity development services on in the local market; and 4) Ensure that both learning and methodologies are shared and applied by other development partners.
Over almost 5 years of its existence, LAVI and its partners have achieved a number of policy reforms aimed at bettering the lives of Liberians. Shortly, LAVI’s project will come to an end, and many of the talented workers responsible for implementing and managing this project will seek new employment opportunities. In light of this, LAVI is recruiting a short-term Liberian Professional Development Specialist to improve the job search, interview, and networking skills of its current workforce to improve their employment prospects after the close of the project.
Description of Services
The prospective Consultant, as a preliminary exercise, will be expected to interview willing LAVI participants to gauge their experiences and methodologies for employment searches. In addition, the Consultant will review submitted resumes or curriculum vitae (CVs) to assess the level of training and assistance needed to improve the employment prospects of LAVI employees.
Following the preliminary exercise, the prospective Consultant will formulate plans, procedures and actions to be taken on an individual and/or collective basis towards the attainment of future employment for LAVI’s employees.

Scope of Works
The scope of works for the prospective Consultant being sought by LAVI shall include:
⮚ Assisting LAVI employees to draft, and/or update their individual Resume or Curriculum Vitae as appropriate
⮚ Providing written and spoken communication skills training
⮚ Providing best practices training to LAVI employees for networking
⮚ Providing best practices training to LAVI employees in the use of social media to maximize their employment search
⮚ Providing best practices training to LAVI employees in interview techniques and cultivating a positive, professional demeanor
Deliverables
∙ Submission of report on the preliminary exercise to include plans for specific trainings and interventions, and a work plan
∙ Submission of agendas, resource materials, and presentations for group trainings ∙ Submission of participant evaluation surveys and reports after each completed training ∙ Submission of final report and recommendations for further intervention
QUALIFICATIONS: LAVI is seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
∙ Demonstrated working experience serving in similar Consultancy position and working environment.
∙ Must be a college/university graduate and above with 3-5 years working experience as a Human Resource position or conducting professional services as described the above SOW.
∙ Well-organized and responsible
∙ Able to work under pressure in fast-paced professional working environment ∙ Punctual and reliable with a commitment to provide the services in the SOW
∙ Strong written and verbal (English) communication skills
∙ Basic computer skills (able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
