Eden Project
Position Title: Program Manager
Length of contract: 1 year (Jan-Dec 2020)
Reports To: Agriculture Sector Manager
Contract Location: Monrovia
Project Summary: The objective of this program is to strengthen the nutritional and
socio-economic status of women, men, girls and boys living in Montserrado County
through nutrition-sensitive agriculture interventions.
The project will provide inputs, technical assistance and training deliverables for 40
household heads on agronomic practices, markets and dietary diversity in order to
improve agricultural techniques in addition to understanding and access to basic
essential nutrients required for improved diet and increased vegetable production.
This will then enable households to practice improved nutritional behaviour and
engage in income generation from vegetable production in Montserrado County.
Position Summary: The Program Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of
Eden programming in Montserrado County; including human resources, budget
management, logistics, reporting, monitoring and evaluation etc. Responsibilities will
include hiring and supervision of staff, overseeing program expenditures and ensuring
project activities are implemented, targets are met and reports are submitted on a timely
basis.
Additionally, the Program Manager will be expected to assist in planning and conducting
trainings and supervising and mentoring staff. He/she will be responsible for program
development, future strategy and proposal development.
The PM will also be responsible for promoting spiritual growth among all Eden staff.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
• Responsible for all program start-up activities.
• Oversee all human resource activities relating to the project; including hiring
staff/ensuring staff contracts are completed, ensuring all staff are trained, etc.
• Monitor and approve of all program expenditures, including reviewing monthly
PARs, projecting for funds, and overall budget management.
• Coordinate all aspects of program logistics, including staff movement and
procurement and delivery of project materials and supplies.
• Oversee all program staff
• Ensure all program targets are being met and quality implementation of all program
activities.
• Develop future proposals, log frames and budgets for subsequent years of
programming, with support from the PDU/ASPM/SPM.
• Oversee all project M&E; liaising with the M&E Coordinator regarding all project
evaluations; including baseline and final evaluation and all other project specific
assessments.
• Complete monthly reports and submit to the Senior Programs Manager, Sector
Manager, M&E Coordinator and Program Development Officer.
• Meet and regularly coordinate with all government line ministries under which
project activities fall to provide an overview of the program and updates on
implementation.
• Ensure regular devotions are occurring among all Eden staff and support spiritual
growth.
• Represent the values and mission of Samaritan’s Purse at all times in daily work
and behavior.
• Perform any additional tasks as required by supervisor.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
• BSc in Agriculture or related field required
• Previous management experience
• Previous experience facilitating trainings
• Good report writing skills
• Computer literate
• 3 – 5 years of experience in implementing agriculture related projects
• Hard-working; willing to commit to irregular working hours
• Possesses patience and mediation skills; is respectful
• Ability to ride a motorbike is preferred. If not able to ride, must be willing to learn.
• Able to commit to a one-year contract
