such, Street Child is currently operating schools across four counties under the Government of
Liberia’s Education Advancement program (LEAP).
The long-term vision for SCoL is to create a network of schools, which are:
– Delivering quality education via Liberian teachers in a way in which is it accessible for all
children regardless of their background or abilities
– At the heart of the community where families and children can access more than just their
education. We hope many other services will be provided from the schools such as older
years learning, parenting classes, social engagements and critically that the school is a safe
space for every child.
– Continuously improving and learning from results, feedback and collaboration from across
the network and wider
– Delivering education with a focus on reading excellence
– An inclusive, happy and stimulating environment which children want to come to and
parents wish to send their children
This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing team, implementing an innovative program
that wants to achieve a rapid improvement in learning outcomes for Liberia’s children as well as
build the long term capacity of teachers and schools across the country.
LEAP Program Head Role – scope
This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing Liberian NGO and significantly impact on its
development and growth. The Head of LEAP Program will form part of the Senior Management
Team. The role is to effectively manage the LEAP program and to maintain a regular high standard of
reporting to external stakeholders, including key funders.
Key Responsibilities
 Establish and implement policies for the effective operation of the LEAP program in line with
Street Child’s requirements.
 Timely and accurate recording of all program activities in line with organizational and donor
needs;
 Provide supervision for all Learning Support Officer (LSO) and data Officers (DO) & schools;
 Spearhead stakeholders engagement with MoE, CEOs & DEOs
 Work with the field team to deliver the planned education activities such as teacher training
and on-going teacher development; supporting teacher with teacher issues.
 Work closely with MoE HR department to ensure all teachers & principals are on
government payroll and supported with any challenges that might incur.
 Build and maintain strong relationships with MoE and other educational stakeholders;
 Support grant writing activities to raise funds for the program;
 Support in the Data Collection & Analysis of it; and
 Develop and implement learning impact assessment and monitoring;
Qualifications and Experience
 A qualified Educator with a Bachelor degree in education or related social sciences;
preference will be given to candidates with Master’s degree
 At least 5 years of senior education management experience, with preference given to those
having worked in a NGO setting.
 Proven experience in project management and data analysis ability.
 Strong experience in proposal writing
 Demonstrable experience in training and leading a team.
 Experience in managing multiple project locations.
 Proven experience in donor reporting.
 Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office and large datasets

 A passionate commitment to the vision of seeing every child in Liberia realising their basic
rights.
 A resource and budget-sensitive approach – mindful of the need to balance high standards
with the imperative stretching resource envelopes as far as possible, so as to benefit as
many as possible of the hundreds of thousands of children in Liberia who presently lack, and
are unlikely to acquire, these core life skills;
 Ability to prioritise with good time management skills.
 Strong management and inter-personal skills.
 Strong awareness of key development issues and trends at national level.
 Ability to represent the organisation externally, including with partners and donors;
 Ability to work easily with national and international colleagues alike;
 Entrepreneurial and business spirited
 Knowledge of donor compliance
Street Child of Liberia
Street Child of Liberia was formally registered as a Liberian NGO in 2013 and works in partnership
with UK registered charity, Street Child. Street Child (UK) has been working with its Sierra Leone
partner organisation, Street Child of Sierra Leone (SCoSL) since 2008. Together the Street Child
Group works to give out of school children the opportunity to gain an education.
Street Child of Liberia is a local NGO that creates educational opportunities for Liberia’s most
vulnerable children. Our innovative model supports out-of-school and ‘at risk’ children into school
and ensures that they can sustainably remain there.
Broadly speaking Street Child has 2 existing areas of work:
– Street connected children – assisting children away from the streets and back into family
homes and education
– Rural education – providing basic schools, teacher training, learning materials and
community sensitisation to remote communities.
