About Rescue Women Liberia
RESCUE WOMEN LIBERIA was established in 2015 by group of women activists , social workers, environmental professionals, health workers and grass root women who have witnessed the indescribable violence , the gross exclusion and denial of women in decision making in natural resource governance, land rights and ownership, innumerable sexual and domestic violence perpetrated against women and girls, denial of access to justice for women and girls and its associated socio- economic consequences that confronts women daily in Liberia. Rescue Women Liberia is dully registered and accredited by the government of Liberia, to serve as the voice of the voiceless indigenous and poor women and girls to step out of poverty and injustice into their inherent power.
Background
RWL received Funding from UNwomen for implementation of SGBV/HTP Project under the Spotlight Initiative in Montserrado County. The project will empower CSOs and women groups to advocate for changes in policies to prevent and eliminate SGBV and Harmful traditional Practices.in Montserrado County. RWL will work with CBOs and Women groups to form a network create awareness on SGBV and HTP to end SGBV and promote women rights. The project will also empower existing women groups and other CSOs to dialogue with policies or decision makers to prioritize the implementation of policies that eliminate violence and protect the rights of women and girls
The project will be implemented in upper Montserrado County specifically, Caldwell, Johnsonville, Careysburg and Toddy District.
Job description
This project is in response to the UN women spotlight initiative call for proposal to support the government of Liberia to respond, eliminate SGBV, Harmful Traditional Practices and form a strong network to advocate for the implementation of policies against SGBV and HTP.
This project is to empower CSOs and women groups to advocate for changes in policies to prevent and eliminate SGBV and Harmful traditional Practices against women and girls .in Montserrado County.
RWL has received a grant from UNDP to implement a UN spotlight project and will work with CBOs and Women groups to form a network and create awareness on SGBV and HTP to end SGBV and promote women rights in Upper Montserrado County, specifically, Cadwell, Johnsonville, Careysburg and Toddy District.
To that end RWL is looking for a program officer to join its team to ensure the success of the implementation.
Responsibilities / Duties
The program Officer will support the Executive Director in the implementation of the project in Upper Montserrado County and specifically in four areas, Caldwell, Johnsonville, Caresburg and Todee. He will perform the following.
