Background

Volunteers for Sustainable Development in Africa (VOSIEDA), founded in 2001, is a non-profit organization based in Liberia. It operates in Liberia and neighboring countries of the Mano River Union Basin, including Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, and Sierra Leone. VOSIEDA’s mission is to promote regional prosperity, reduce extreme poverty, and enhance peace and stability in West Africa. The organization envisions communities prioritizing environmental stewardship and upholding justice and human dignity. VOSIEDA focuses on six program areas: smart agriculture for food security, ecosystem conservation, gender equality and women’s empowerment, business development, democratic governance, capacity building for civil society, and partnerships with the private sector for sustainable development.

To further its mission, VOSIEDA is seeking a self-motivated Program Officer to join our committed team. This position involves planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on program and project activities, all directed towards achieving the program’s goals and the project’s objectives. The Program Officer will be instrumental in coordinating with program and project teams, partners, and stakeholders to ensure that all activities align with donor expectations and organizational standards.

This includes overseeing project cycle management, crafting comprehensive program and project plans, and establishing robust assurance frameworks.
  2. Coordination and Liaison: Take charge of coordinating internal teams, partners, and stakeholders to drive program operations forward. This includes orchestrating impactful workshops and meetings, all while ensuring seamless communication with partners and beneficiaries, fostering collaboration, and achieving shared goals.
  3. Research and Documentation: Conduct in-depth research and craft compelling briefs, project proposals, and various program-related documents, with a strong emphasis on effective knowledge dissemination.
  4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish robust frameworks to monitor the progress of various projects and uphold the highest standards of quality assurance.
  5. Administrative Support: Provide assistance with sessions, managing budget management, contract preparation, and provider coordination.
  6. Others: Perform other functions as may be required from time to time.

A keen attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Key personal attributes include unwavering integrity, a genuine passion for both office and field assignments, and a steadfast commitment to teamwork. The Project Officer will work closely with program teams, partners, and, at times, external stakeholders, including government agencies and donors. This role demands a proactive and dynamic individual ready to make a significant impact.
