Catholic Relief Services has been working in Liberia since 1957 with a current programmatic focus targeting health, nutrition, peacebuilding, and agriculture.

Job Summary:

The Project Assistant will provide support in implementing a multi-year project aimed at strengthening the entrepreneur capacity and self-reliance of Community Health Workers (CHWs) to deliver sustainable community health and nutrition services in Liberia. You will provide service in the day-to-day delivery of responsive, effective and efficient project technical, administrative and operational activities in support of the Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) mission to serve the poor and vulnerable. You will provide consistent and high-quality service, contributing to the proper stewardship of project resources to ensure operational effectiveness in support of high-quality programming.

Location: Monrovia, Liberia

Type of Role: Fixed-Term Contract

Reports to: Program Quality Manager

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to project participants on entrepreneurship and business management
  • Support capacity building intervention for community health workers in business skills, financial literacy and marketing.
  • Contribute to the preparation of program reports, workplans, success stories, and other documents as requested.
  • Work with the MEAL team to track training attendance, monitor project effectiveness, analyze trends and use data to support decision-making.
  • Liaise with Ministry of Health, Community leadership and other relevant stakeholders to effectively coordinate communication and feedback to project team.
  • Facilitate communication with all members of the project team, relevant staff in other departments/teams and external stakeholders as relevant. Send/receive and distribute all incoming and outgoing mail/faxes/letters/documents.
  • Prepare documents in support of project operational processes and facilitate their efficient processing following established policies and guidelines (e.g. payment requests, travel authorizations, travel advances, visas, etc.).
  • Compile, manage, and verify information or data related to project administration processes (e.g. various contact lists, employee leave balances, staff attendance reports, vehicle log sheet review, visitors’ welcome packages, etc.).
  • Support travel and logistics arrangements for staff and visitors, including appointment scheduling, event planning, travel itineraries, etc.
  • Support property management processes, such as property receipt and distribution, property labeling, physical counts, etc.
  • All other administrative, logistical and operational activities as assigned by the supervisor.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required. Professional Diploma/Certificate or courses in Administration, or logistics management are a plus.
  • A bachelor’s degree is an added advantage.
  • With 2-3 years’ experience supporting international donor-funded programs or projects, such as UN funded project.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Diploma/Certificate or courses in Administration a plus.
  • Experience with a local or international NGO is a plus.

Required Languages – Strong written and spoken English.

Travel – Must be willing and able to travel up to 20%.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with typing/word processing, data entry into online databases and forms, and working with various office equipment.
  • Experience in MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Good time management skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive, resourceful, solutions-oriented and results-oriented

External: Ministry of Health, National and Local Government; Church/faith-based counterparts; donors; coordination bodies; peer agencies; networks/alliances.
