JOB/POSITION DESCRIPTION- Integrated School WASH, Nutrition, and Education Project

1. Background

With funding from Radio hjälpen through WaterAid Liberia, WaterAid Liberia and Serving Humanity for Empowerment and Development (SHED) are jointly implementing an 18-month project titled “Healthy Children, Safe Schools: WASH and Nutrition in Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia.” SHED is the lead implementer. The project aims to improve children’s health, nutrition, and school attendance through integrated WASH, nutrition, and school governance interventions in six schools and surrounding communities in Tewor and Commonwealth Districts, Grand Cape Mount County.

2. Position Purpose

The Project Coordinator will provide overall leadership and day-to-day coordination of the Integrated School WASH, Nutrition, and Education Project. The position will oversee planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and quality assurance to ensure activities are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with donor and organizational requirements.

The Project Coordinator will serve as the primary project focal point, supervise the Nutrition Officer, and work closely with WaterAid Liberia, government partners, schools, communities, and other stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation and achievement of outcomes.

3. Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate overall implementation of project activities, ensuring delivery according to approved work plans, budgets, timelines, and donor requirements.
• Develop and monitor project work plans, activity schedules, procurement plans, and budgets.
• Supervise project staff and consultants, providing technical guidance and performance oversight.
• Identify implementation risks and recommend corrective actions to ensure achievement of project objectives.
• Maintain effective coordination and communication with WaterAid, government ministries, local authorities, schools, communities, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare quality monthly, quarterly, and donor reports and maintain project documentation.
• Support and coordinate improved access to safe and sustainable WASH services in targeted areas
• Improve access to nutritious food through local food production in targeted areas.
• Strengthen school governance and multisectoral coordination.

5. Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Agriculture, Development Studies, Water and Sanitation Engineering, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• A Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline is an added advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience managing development or humanitarian projects.
• Demonstrated experience implementing multi-sectoral projects involving WASH, nutrition, education, agriculture, or community development.
• Experience working with donor-funded projects and government institutions.
• Experience supervising staff and coordinating community-based interventions.
