Job Title: Project Coordinator, Biological Sciences

Job Summary:

A supervisory position with demonstrated experience and responsibility that requires the coordination, review and implementation of operational procedures and policies in the life sciences; is responsible for assisting and coordinating the tasks and activities focused on life sciences, and ensures knowledge-creation in the life sciences. . The Project Coordinator at the direction of the Project Manager ensures project resources and budget are tracked effectively to achieve goals. Requires effective communication, writing and critical thinking skills of an individual who can be a team player and work on multiple tasks.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Technical Coordination

  • Ensure procedures for managing project resources are adhered to and in compliance with the standard operating rocedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor and coordinate study implementation activities ensuring supply inventory needs are met in accordance ith SOPs.
  • Oversight of quality assurance measures throughout the project using established tools to monitor quality of work.
  • Implement assigned clinical studies including, but not limited to, review of laboratory specific procedures in protocols, Laboratory SOP/SSPs, training manuals, laboratory supplies, and technical support.
  • Facilitate the implementation of developed programs of instruction, such as safety, quality assurance, laboratory anagement, and ensure required in-service training sessions are accomplished.
  • Ensures staff and study training records are maintained to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Assist in the development of on-line training tools for scientific personnel .

Technical Writing

  • Write technical SOPs
  • Create and publish articles of interest to the clinical arena, public health, and the development of Africa’s base in clinical research
  • Proposal writing for opportunities in research, public health, and laboratory science

Administrative Duties

  • Coordinate weekly study meetings.
  • Coordinate and execute training, workshops, and maintain database of participants.
  • Assist with preparation of technical reports, summaries, and protocols as required by client.
  • Coordination and logistics support for any training activities.
  • Assist in the development of a work plan monitoring targets in support of project manager.
  • Utilize project management tools to ensure timeliness, budget and people.
  • Create newsletter articles and website content on relevant topics as necessary.
  • Ensure office and project files are organized and saved electronically to Africabio Enterprises, Inc. medium for backing–up any data.
  • Manage relationships for procurement of supplies and research appropriate vendors, and procurement software.
  • Create weekly and monthly reports.

Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years’ relevant experience; Master’s preferred.
  • Experience working with or management of a USG-funded project and the related rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of business and legal topics related to clinical research, regulatory guidelines and ethics is a plus.
  • Exceptional writing skills and knowledge of APA guidelines
  • Analytical and interpersonal skills are a must
  • Computer and records management skills required.
