IMPORTANT INFORMATION
I (David M. Kortee) am affiliated with an organization based in the US and Monrovia that has been making positive contributions to education in Liberia. For several years now, they have been helping Liberian teachers in the areas of educational training, classroom management, lesson planning and presentation to upgrade their teaching methodologies. Working through the Liberia Community Network (LCN), a Liberian NGO that is involved with Each One Teach One in Liberia that wants to ensure every Liberian knows how to read and write, they have mobilized resources for several trainings in previous years and brought in educational experts from the US and other countries for the training of teachers in Montserrado and Margibi County.
These efforts are led by Dr. Sophie Williams who has mobilized resources from Africa Community Exchange, Inc. (ACE) for the successful hosting of the trainings. Through Dr. William’s efforts, consultants that travel to Liberia have paid for their own flight cost, lodging cost and all other associated costs at no cost to our fundraising effort. All resources acquired are for direct cost (training materials, venue hire, food, and minimum transport assistance) for participants. You can learn more about ACE by visiting the website: www.aceliberia.org.
ACE has plans for another training in October 2022 involving principals of the 26 low-income, community-based primary schools they support. While this planning is ongoing with stakeholders and funders, a consultant has volunteered to travel with the expats that will be involved with the leadership training to also host a project management training with professional Liberians who are managing local initiatives (to upgrade their skills in project management).
LCN and ACE always try to have prospective organizations and participants share with trainers what their professional development needs are and not simply imposed a pre-described training content. By so doing, the participants will take ownership and apply the new knowledge to their toolkit.
In this regards, I have been asked to communicate through our network to inquire if this is an area local project managers will benefit from additional skills set. Please be informed that if there is interest, they will pursue the consultant that will focus only on the project management training during the October 2022 activities in Monrovia.
