Job Summary:

The position has the primary responsibility to develop and support nutritional interventions for the Sustainable, Targeted, Responsive approach to Optimize Nutrition and Growth (STRONG) project. The Nutrition Project Officer will be responsible to support activities, training, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of nutrition-related interventions under the STRONG project. The Project Officer will coordinate closely with National Catholic Health Council (NCHC) field staff working with communities served by the project, with other project staff and management. The position holder will be based in one of the project counties.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the coordination and implementation of all assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules. Assist partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.
  • Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and assisting partners in their efforts to collect and analyze project data per specified mechanisms and tools. Collaborate with local partner(s) to prepare reports per the established reporting schedule.
  • Collect information on staff capacity needs and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and monitor the capacity building and technical support activities to ensure effective impact.
  • Complete project documentation for assigned activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in project support. Experience in the field of nutrition/health and working with adolescent girls and young women for an NGO would be a plus.
  • Experience working with partners, participatory action planning and community engagement.
  • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to be flexible and effective in the face of unexpected challenges
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience living and working in resource-limited environments is strongly preferred.

Required Languages – English, speaking the local language of the assigned county is a plus.

Travel – Will be based in the assigned county, Bong or Grand Bassa, and may travel to Monrovia occasionally when the need arises.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement.
  • Experience implementing activities, monitoring projects, and collecting relevant data preferred.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
