CERATH Development Organization (CDO) is a non-profit entity focused on catalysing development in Africa. CDO has five main intervention areas: Agriculture, Fisheries, Renewable Energy, Water Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), and Inclusive Finance. CDO operates in Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. In Liberia, CDO is implementing the Cassava Transformation Project in the Southeast, the Talking Agribusiness in Liberia Project, and its latest, the Liberia Fisheries Governance Project all funded by the European Union.

Opportunity

CDO seeks to hire a Qualitative Researcher in Liberia to execute a component of a broader study on food systems. The successful applicant will support qualitative research on Liberia’s food systems. He/ She will carry out the roles and responsibilities listed below and any other duties that may be delegated.

  • Discussions with stakeholders working on child rights
  • Development of data collection tools and supervision of data collection activities; ensure that data collected are reliable, accurate, complete, and well-documented.
  • Determination of data analysis procedures and presentation of key findings

Technical/Functional Competencies

  • Ability to engage and interview children;
  • Excellent understanding of safeguarding and child protection issues;
  • Excellent transcription skills;
  • Ability to conduct research without supervision;
  • Strong organisational and excellent interpersonal skills, being able to manage workload with minimum supervision and collaborate with colleagues and diverse actors while meeting deadlines;
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently on detailed assignments;
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced and occasionally demanding environment;
  • Computer proficiency: MS Office;

Qualification Required & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in agriculture, education, or social science;
  • Qualitative research background with experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection within the past two years;
  • Ability to work with children; experience in working in a formal setting will be an added advantage;
  • Cross-sectoral experience (agribusiness; food system; food security) will be an added advantage;
