JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Radio Serial Drama Producer & Editor
REPORTS TO: Media & Theater Manager
ORGANIZATION: Talking Drum Studio: Liberia Peace Center (TDS Liberia) is a national civil society
organization that works toward igniting shared values in finding solutions to the
most critical issues affecting the Liberian society.
SUMMARY: Support Plan, prepare, produce, and edit episodes for PMC/radio serial
drama project. The Assistant Producer will work closely with the Theater/Media Manager, Project Manager and Head Writer and Studio technicians and the producer to meet production deliverables on time.
Responsibilities of the Assistant-Producer include the following:
Pre-Production
- Assist the training workshop for writers in coloboration with the producer;
- Work and Asssist the writers to develop plots/ideas for the drama/production;
- Assist to Review the flowcharts of the storyline prepared by the Head Writer;
- Assist and Provide scriptwriters with consolidated technical comments on episodes based on the objectives of the drama, PMC’s methodology, and standard media policy;
- Ensure comments are incorporated into the scripts;
- Support and Play an active role in the selection of high quality voice actors for and needs of the drama;
- Give orientation on sound participation, disciplines required during media production in the studio;
- Select/create/record sound effects in the studio or outside in the field and bridge/mood music that will be inputs for the production of each episode;
- Assist to Prepare/write effective intros and outros with the flow of reference of the last and next episodes;
- Oversee the collection of scripts from the scriptwriting team;
- Oversee the preparation of the production schedule and timeline;
- Ensure the timely and comprehensive production plan and schedule; and
- Coordinate and work with the Producer to rehearse actors prior to recording episodes
Production
Assist and Provide support to Record and produce issue-related content epilogues;
- Produce, mix, and edit episodes with assistance of studio technicians; and
- Ensure the episodes are technically right and culturally sensitive in their content.
Post-Production
- Support and a ttend debrief on results from the pretest of pilot episodes and make adjustments to production as needed;
- Listen critically to analyze the standard/quality of the episodes;
- Submit episode summaries to the Media & Theater Manager;
- Make sure agreed transmission air time is maintained and advanced promotion is properly made;
- Support and Work closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation department to report on listener and media feedbacks, noting recommendations or changes to be made to radio drama production; and
- Other duties as maybe determined necessary for the successful completion of the production by the Project Manager and Theater/Media Manager and producer.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: BA Degree or associate Degree in Journalism or Language and Literature or Sociology or other related fields
Experience: 5 years of experience in the production of radio serial drama or related radio programs
and good experience in Radio Journalism, and most essentially, good behavior!
