Key Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care including assessment, monitoring, and treatment

Administer medications safely and accurately

Take and record vital signs

Assist doctors during consultations and procedures

Perform wound care and basic nursing procedures

Educate patients on treatment plans and health conditions

Maintain accurate and confidential patient records

Ensure cleanliness and proper infection control practices

Handle emergency cases effectively and professionally

Qualifications & Requirements

Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by the Liberian Board for Nursing and Midwifery

Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution

Minimum of 1–3 years clinical experience (clinic or hospital preferred)

Strong knowledge of basic nursing care and emergency response

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Honest, reliable, and patient-focused

Preferred Skills

Experience in outpatient or private clinic settings

Knowledge of maternal and child health care

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Basic computer skills for documentation

Position: Registered Midwife

Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

A Registered Midwife is responsible for providing comprehensive maternal and newborn care, including antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal services. The role focuses on ensuring safe pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum care while promoting the health and well-being of mothers and babies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Antenatal Care

Conduct routine antenatal check-ups

Monitor fetal growth and maternal health

Identify high-risk pregnancies and refer appropriately

Provide health education on nutrition, hygiene, and birth preparedness

2. Labor and Delivery Care

Monitor labor progress using tools like the partograph

Assist and conduct normal vaginal deliveries

Recognize complications and initiate emergency care

Collaborate with doctors for complicated cases

3. Postnatal Care

Monitor mother and newborn after delivery

Provide breastfeeding support and counseling

Educate mothers on newborn care and family planning

Identify postpartum complications

4. Newborn Care

Perform immediate newborn assessment (APGAR scoring)

Provide essential newborn care (warmth, feeding, hygiene)

Identify and refer sick newborn

5. Health Education & Counseling

Educate women and families on:

Family planning

Safe motherhood practices

6. Record Keeping & Reporting

Maintain accurate patient records

Document all procedures and outcomes

Report maternal and neonatal data as required

7. Infection Prevention & Control

Follow strict hygiene and sterilization protocols

Ensure safe disposal of medical waste

8. Collaboration & Teamwork

Work with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff

Participate in maternal health programs and outreach

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Midwifery

Valid practicing license

Minimum of 1–3 years of clinical experience (preferred)
