Introduction/Background
Helping Our People Excel (HOPE), Inc. is a national women-led, rights-based, not-for-profit organization incorporated in 2010. HOPE is governed by the Board of Directors and managed by a team of professionals with the requisite educational background and practical experience in various fields including education, advocacy, gender mainstreaming, and capacity development, among others. HOPE has over 14 years of experience in various fields including advocacy, gender mainstreaming, capacity development, and education among others. HOPE continues to be a leading not-for-profit local entity championing the cause of women and girls in Liberia, focusing on sexual reproductive health and rights, education, and leadership development. HOPE employs a more holistic approach, providing personal/leadership development opportunities while advocating for supportive systems and policies. HOPE serves as the intermediary between government agencies/development organizations and the people.
The “Smart Women Collaborative” movement is a dynamic platform, based in Ghana, aimed at creating a community of empowered women, who in turn empower others. They seek to foster an environment where female achievers make an impact by working together to uplift and inspire each other, thereby creating a ripple effect that brings hope and positive change to the next generation. The Smart Women Collaborative’s vision is to leave a lasting legacy of outstanding women in a community that celebrates, supports, and strengthens women through collaboration, networking, and mentorship to positively impact our society. Our mission is to empower women by collaboratively building each other up, offering hope to the next generation, and contributing to the creation of a better society that incubates the next generation.
Under the auspices of this project, Alliance to End Violence against Women, with funding from the EU in partnership with the UN Trust Fund-UN Women, Helping Our People Excel (HOPE), Inc. (based in Liberia) has formed a partnership with the Smart Women Collaborative (SWC) (based in Ghana) to support a regional coalition and multi-stakeholder partnerships of gender advocates that will implement local, national and regional strategies to end violence against women. Both HOPE and SWC, have local and national structures in place and are actively involved in regional work for the protection of women and girls.
HOPE and SWC seek to hire two (2) Gender and Advocacy Consultants to develop and provide technical assistance for the implementation of a national-level advocacy campaign on Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW) in Liberia and Ghana, respectively. The primary aim of this consultancy is to enhance the technical capacity of civilsociety to influence policy efforts and actions at the national level and enhance citizens’ voices, especially women and girls, to hold decision-makers accountable. Project Description
The overall goal of the Alliance to End Violence against Women project is to increase and enhance advocacy, campaigning, and policy-making to end violence against women and girls (EVAW) through multi-stakeholder partnerships and coalitions by:

To ensure that the most vulnerable women and girls are actively involved, HOPE will mobilize women groups and organizations in the Bong and Bomi counties (Liberia) to join the already established Survivor Support Coalition, and; SWC will focus their efforts to address violence against women and girls (EVAW) in the Northern and Coastal Regions in Ghana.
Scope of work
➢ Conduct training workshops for stakeholders involved in advocacy, campaigning, and policy making related to EVAW. These resources should provide guidance on effective advocacy strategies, coalition building, messaging, and engaging with policymakers
➢ Develop an advocacy campaign, complete with a media and communications strategy.
➢ Conduct quarterly policy analysis and develop evidence-based briefs outlining key issues related to EVAW. These briefs will highlight areas for legislative reform, resource allocation, and best practices in addressing violence against women and girls.
➢ Provide technical assistance for the development of a joint advocacy statement and policy brief to be presented to regional decision-making bodies

Academic Qualifications:
Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent experience) in gender and advocacy, communications, or related areas. A first-level university degree in combination with five additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in program communications and advocacy in the context of gender is required. Experience working on advocacy and communication activities for a national organization is required. A strong understanding of regional policies and forums as it relate to gender and sexual gender-based violence is required. Experience developing and implementing strategic, advocacy, and communications campaigns for a diverse audience is required. Experience managing resources, including personnel and budget, to support advocacy activities in a local context, is desirable.
