THE POSITION OF RESEARCH ASSISTANT – Sinoe IV Evaluation Data Analysis and Reporting
Who we are:
Medica Liberia (mL) formerly medica mondiale Liberia is a non-governmental women’s rights organization working in Liberia. Our Organization offers support to women and girls affected by sexual gender based violence (SGBV). Since 2006, medica Liberia has been implementing programs for women and girls in Liberia’s South-eastern parts and recently extended its coverage to Montserrado and Margibi Counties respectively, through funding from the German Government and other donors. In this regard, mL is looking to hire a qualified individual for the below position:
Position Title: Research Assistant – Sinoe IV Evaluation
Duty Station: Monrovia with travel to other field locations
Duration: 5 months with possibility of extension
Reporting to: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer/ Local Lead/Project Lead on the Research Project
1. Background
As part of the Sinoe IV Evaluative Study, the research team is conducting extensive field data collection, analysis, and reporting on issues related to SGBV response, protection networks, and community-based interventions. To support this work, the project requires a Research Assistant who will play a critical role in tool development, field coordination, data management, and reporting.
2. Objective of the Assignment
The Research Assistant will provide technical and operational support to the research team to ensure high-quality data collection, accurate analysis, and timely reporting.
3. Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will:
a) Data Management & Analysis
· Clean and manage datasets collected from the field.
· Conduct preliminary data analysis (quantitative and qualitative) using Excel/SPSS/STATA or NVivo/Atlas.ti as relevant.
· Generate tables, charts, and coded summaries to support reporting and presentations.
b) Reporting & Documentation
· Assist in drafting field notes, case summaries, and analytical sections of research reports.
· Contribute to the preparation of workshop summaries, stakeholder feedback notes, and final evaluation reports.
· Maintain an organized repository of all research tools, datasets, and reports.
c) Administrative & Coordination Support
· Support coordination of field activities including logistics, scheduling, and communication with stakeholders.
· Document and compile minutes of meetings, workshops, and debrief sessions.
· Perform other related tasks assigned by the Lead Researcher or Project Manager.
4. Deliverables
· Cleaned and well-structured datasets.
· Preliminary analysis outputs (tables, charts, coded transcripts).
· Draft contributions to evaluation reports and presentations.
· Regular progress updates and workshop documentation.
5. Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health, or related field.
· Proven experience with Kobo Toolbox (designing and deploying surveys)
· Strong data management and analysis skills (SPSS, STATA, or Excel for quantitative; NVivo or equivalent for qualitative)
· Experience in research assistance, evaluation studies, or community-based assessments.
· Excellent writing skills for reports and documentation.
· Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
· Familiarity with SGBV, protection, or gender-related programming is an asset.
6. Duration & Level of Effort
The Research Assistant will be engaged for a period of 5 months full time. This position is limited to the 5-month period, on honorary basis.
7. Supervision & Reporting
The Research Assistant will locally, report directly to the M & E Head, Local Lead, – and to the Project Lead on Research Project, in regular correspondence as directed.
This will include working in close coordination with the field team, CBOs, and Protection Networks.
