Background Information on ULCHS Resource Center

The University of Liberia College of Health Sciences (ULCHS) houses the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Nursing and Midwifery. Students across disciplines undertake intensive coursework as well as participate in practical/clinical activities to provide health workforce-ready experiences and skills. In recent years, the ULCHS has increasingly invested in building an environment that prioritizes research and the utilization of scientific evidence among faculty and students.

As part of this effort to enhance the culture of research, a Student Resource Center is being developed to offer students access to tutoring, workshops, and information which could support them in building cross-cutting skills, such as scientific writing, oral presentation development, and time management. During the development phase, a Coordinator and Primary Tutor will be hired to work with ULCHS faculty to understand skills needs and to begin to work with small groups of students to better understand effective strategies for building such skills in the ULCHS community.

· Ensure that available Center resources are well-documented and effectively communicated to students across ULCHS;

· Develop regular reports on the key process, output, and outcome indicators;

· Tutor students in areas of scientific writing, referencing, and formatting of documents/presentations; and

· Independently or collaboratively design reference guides/materials for students

Minimum Qualifications:

· A graduate degree (Masters or above) in a health-related field

· At least one year of experience in program management and/or in a supervisory role

Desired Qualifications:

· Authorship of at least one peer-reviewed publication
