Safeguarding Job Responsibilities

  1. Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve BRAC’s goals on safeguarding.
  2. Act as a resource of support and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  3. Practice, promote, and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action. d. Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage other to do so.

Job Summary

This role will lead safeguarding activities for all programs in the country and will be responsible for implementing the Safeguarding and sub-set of policies and procedures across the organization, act as the reporting avenue for safeguarding concerns violations. The position holder will lead the process of ensuring safeguarding risk management is done and safeguarding indicators are mainstreamed in the program design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and partnerships. The job holder will also lead the case management process by ensuring timely reporting of incidents to BRAC international (BI) Head Office affiliates, ensure confidential investigations are done in a timely fashion following a risk assessment of cases, ensure disciplinary actions are implemented and documented by HR, provide survivor support, and lead the mapping of referral services in the country for all programs.

Key Duties:

  • Lead the implementation of the Safeguarding and sub-set of relationship management skills and ability to communicate policies by training all the in all forms (written, verbal, negotiation, presentation skills)
  • Ensure that all BLMCL staff and build up a pool of trainers to ensure 100% staff, partners, volunteers, consultants and service providers receive training and refresher on the safeguarding policies, prioritizing AIM project staff and partners.
  • Establish a safeguarding culture across all levels of the programme by implementing the safeguarding policy. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring team members are appropriately trained, supported and have access to resources regarding issues that are identified and actioned in accordance with the safeguarding policy and procedure.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any Development Studies, reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.

  • Support in establishing and strengthening survivor referral systems in BRAC program.
  • Coordinate with Safeguarding focal person to address and report concerns regarding failure to mitigate and safeguarding issues.
  • Ensure that confidentiality and security are maintained in case of incidents. Safeguarding roles
  • Responsible for ensuring team members are appropriately trained, supported, and have access to resources regarding identified and actioned issues per the safeguarding policy and procedure.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Experience of implementing safeguarding policies and practices

Ability to build trust among stakeholders to report safeguarding violations, Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and sensitivity,

Knowledge of international standards of safeguarding and ability to implement best practices.

Ability to work strategically and practically with multiple stakeholders, Strong facilitation and presentation skills

 

EXPERIENCE (Including sector/industry):

At least 2 years of experience in implementing safeguarding policies and practices, ability to build trust among stakeholders to report safeguarding violations, ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and sensitivity, Knowledge of international standards of safeguarding and ability to implement best practices.

Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Gender and Women’s Studies.
