Sales & Agronomy Agent – TJAL Liberia
About TJAL
TJAL Enterprises is an agro-dealer and fumigation services company with locations in Guinea, Sierra
Leone, and Liberia. The company has been in operation for over 30 years. In Liberia, TJAL sells
fertilisers, pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, seeds, insecticides, farming tools and safety equipment
from their store in Monrovia and around the country through a network of distributors.
TJAL is seeking a detail-oriented, results-focused sales agent with expertise in agronomy to join our
company in Liberia.
Job Description
This is a key agronomic, marketing and sales position. Tasks include: product training, farm and shop
advisory, company and product marketing, and sales delivery.
This is a primarily field-based/traveling position, with about 30% office-based and 70% traveling. While
traveling, you are expected to use one-fourth of your time on trainings and three-fourths on sales and
marketing of the company’s products.
Sales: You will assist the team to attain specific monthly sales targets. For this, you must keep in
mind that in all your activities, specific attention should be given to activities that result in bringing
revenue to the company.
Relationship management: You will be responsible to increase interaction, communication and
business relationship between the company and its existing and new customers, including agrodealers, sales agents and farmers.
Marketing: You are expected to use your knowledge and time to increase sales through agro-dealer
engagement, promotional campaigns, and new product lines. This shall include contribution to the
creation of radio advertisements, designing and distribution of promotional materials; flyers, stickers,
T-shirts, etc. as well as supporting agro dealers in their community engagements, using TJAL’s
brandings.
Agronomic training: You will be responsible to develop and deliver training materials on specific
products offered by TJAL to its customers and potential customers. These trainings shall be offered
based on request from the agro dealers and delivered to their farmer customers or sales agents.
TJAL product training: You are responsible for offering specific TJAL products trainings to agro
dealers in order to help them to understand and to deliver on training associated with the usage of
the products. These trainings shall be directed at increasing agro dealers’ product knowledge in order
to increase purchase.
Demo plot setup: As part of your duty, you are required to offer agents and agro-dealers technical
support for utilization of TJAL products as well as support small farmers in product use; specifically,
fertilizers, seeds and agro-chemicals. To fulfill this, you will set up 4 demo plots, one in each of the
4 counties of operations namely; Montserrado, Margibi, Bong and Nimba in collaboration with the
best-performing agents and agro-dealers in those locations. You will use these demo plots as a
means of supporting on-farm training and promotional events and activities.
Reports to: CEO, with supervision from Country Manager.
Location: Monrovia, with frequent travels to other counties of operations.
