Job purpose
The School Feeding Officer role is crucial for community engagement. School Feeding Officers play an essential and key liaison role between the schools, communities and Mary’s Meals including overseeing and reporting on the running of the Programme, collecting data on key indicators of success, assessing stock and providing training where required.
Key activities

· Developing and submitting weekly and monthly workplans to the School Feeding Manager

· Producing and submitting weekly, monthly, end of term and situational reports to the School Feeding Manager for progress tracking and management of emerging issues

· Monitoring the delivery, daily consumption and proper storage of Mary’s Meals food and other supplies provided for the school feeding programme

 

· Collecting programme data from schools and other relevant sources for submission to the School Feeding Manager and the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Coordinator for programme management and decision making

 

· With support from the Technical Officers, providing training, capacity building, advice and encouragement to school principals, PTAs, school feeding patrons, school feeding committees, traditional leaders, community volunteers and the general community to promote effective support and sustainability of the feeding programme

 

· With support from the Technical Officers, helping schools in organizing community participation through meetings with PTAs, School Management Committees and School Feeding Committees

 

· Ensuring that Child Protection Policy and any other living policies are communicated to and implemented in the schools and at each level of school feeding implementation

· With recommendations and support from Technical Officers, mobilise community members in developing school gardens

 

· With recommendations and support from Technical Officers, mobilise communities and schools to ensure that there is always sanitation and hygiene in the schools including checking on the availability of enough safe toilets for staff, boys and girls

 

· Carrying out stock taking and ensuring appropriate use of food stuffs and related supplies

 

· Overseeing and reporting on the safety, sanitation and hygiene issues in respect to programme delivery

 

· Facilitating the delivery of school feeding programme supplies and equipment to schools in a timely and organized manner

 

· Identifying and dealing with school feeding emerging issues and reporting the same to School Feeding Manager for redress

· Participating in research aimed at assessing the impact of the school feeding programme

 

· Supporting the School Feeding Manager in tracking and documenting lessons learnt

 

· Supporting the Communications Office with identification of case studies and change stories that are a result of the school feeding programme

 

· Attending bi-weekly team meetings

· Implementing developed work plans

· Facilitating, conducting and attending monthly community meetings

 

· Linking with other sections in Mary’s Meals Liberia Programme to ensure smooth flow of all types of information for effective implementation of the school feeding programme

 

· Ensuring that organizational assets and equipment are well taken care of. These will include those used by self and other officers or programme partners

 

· Carrying out field assignments and other related assignments as assigned by management from time to time.

Qualifications, skills and experienceEssential Desirable
Tertiary certification in Development Studies, Social work, Education, Public Health or any related subject/fieldü
At least 12 months’ experience in education, health, agriculture or other community related work.ü
At least a diploma in the above-mentioned fieldsü
Experience working in an INGO environmentü
Ability to ride a motorcycle and licensed to ride in Liberiaü
Should have ability to facilitate and moderate group training sessionsü
Should have well-developed community mobilization and capacity development skillsü
Should have basic computer skills like the use of Microsoft word and excelü
Should have basic report writing skills and significant change story documentationü
Should have good team work and networking skillsü
Should have effective communication skills in both written and oral formsü
