Second Chance Chimpanzee Refuge-Liberia (SCCRL) is a project of Humane Society International and its
office is based within the compound of LIBR Charlesville, Margibi County. SCCRL is seeking applications
from two (2) qualified and reliable applicants for the position of security guard.
Basic Function
The Security Guard will be responsible to ensure the security of all staff and properties within his assigned areas, such as boat dock, office, and guest quarters. Reporting any suspicious activity to his department head. The ideal candidates for these positions must have a background in security and a professional disposition.
Duties and responsibilities
Protect lives of staff and property against death, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry
Patrol areas to which assigned (boat dock or compound, including office and guest quarters)
Examine windows and doors to determine they are secure; inspect equipment to ensure no tampering
Conduct post inventory prior to assuming duty and maintained straight record of HSI properties and other occurrences withing the post logbook
Inspect security equipment – VHF Radio to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering
Ensure that all personnel, visitors, and vehicles that gain access to the premises of HSI are authorized and ensure that every vehicle is recorded within the vehicle log
Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft
Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences
Remain alert at all time while on duty. Record and report unusual occurrences, security breaches and illegal activities immediately through the proper chain of command
Recommend potential changes in security procedures to Chief of Security as needed
Document and communicate with Chief of Security regarding any security concerns
Other duties as assigned by Chief of Security or Deputy Director
Hours of Work
At least 40 hours per week
Normal hours for day and night shifts are: 8 am-4 pm, 4 pm-12 am & 12 am to 8am and with one-hour break.
Must be prepared to work additional hours/days as requested by Chief of Security or Deputy Director
Education/Experience
High school graduate or equivalent strongly preferred
Fluency in written and spoken English highly preferred
At least one year of professional security experience
Physical Requirements
Must be physically fit and strong
