About NAEAL Liberia:

The National Adult Education Association of Liberia (NAEAL) is a Liberian National Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) working in the areas of education, literacy, and community development in Liberia. NAEAL was organized and incorporated in 1977, through the initiatives of religious organizations, individuals from the education sector and the Ministry of Education. NAEAL has since developed programs in literacy/numeracy, work readiness, Business Development Skills (BDS), life skills trainings and intergenerational learning, Community development, Curriculum Development, Networking, and advocacy.

 

About CRS SILC+GTA Project:

NAEAL is preparing to implement a CRS (Catholic Relief Services) funded project (SILC+GTA).

The project will be implemented in 2 counties over a period of 2 years, (Bong & Nimba)

SILC+GTA – This is a Rural Savings for the Future project aimed at increasing financial and decision-making power among Liberian women living in rural areas.

This project will address the financial and cultural barriers that women experience by using a two-pronged approach targeted at increasing financial capacity and money management for women while improving intra-household decision making so that women have an equal say in how savings and loans are used.

This approach will consist of forming Savings Internal Lending Communities SILC groups for women in farming communities who are receiving technical assistance from the USAID Agriculture Sustainability Activity in Bong and Nimba Counties.

The Gender Transformative Approach will be implemented through the SILC groups. The project participants will have an increased financial and decision-making capacity leading to greater economic stability for the family through improved business and agricultural outputs.

 

Summary job description:

The field supervisor is responsible for supervising field agents and

  • ensuring the quality of the SILC groups they form
  • developing FA skills and certifying them as PSPs
  • overseeing their work as PSPs and organizing them into networks

 

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Train field agents
  • Monitor, coach and provide feedback to FAs to develop their skills
  • Ensure the quality of SILC groups through regular field visits and spot checks
  • Organize and facilitate project events with local leaders, agents, and groups, as needed
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of agent reporting
  • Review data collection forms and MIS reports and take action to improve project performance
  • Verify stipends due to agents
  • Certify and launch PSPs
  • Organize and oversee PSP networks
  • Promote the project and the PSP-SILC to community stakeholders

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Microfinance, Business Administration, Project Management, or any relevant field
  • Experience working with decentralized, community-based projects; previous experience with savings group programming helpful
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluency in one or more languages of the operating area
  • Willingness to be based in the field and to travel long distances
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle
  • Valid motorcycle permit
  • Must be a resident of the counties/willing to work in the counties
