MISSION/CORE PURPOSE

Create digital visibility of direct and indirect sales of products in trade. Oversee the end to end distribution of saleable and non-saleable products from order requests, through processing in MTN, to supply and sales in trade via all trade channels. Saleable products include Airtime (Electronic and scratch cards), SIM Cards and Devices. Lead end to end projects pertaining to sales and distribution, such as the implementation of go-to market strategies and geo-spatial analysis.

The Specialist, Solutions is the analytical backbone of all the reporting within the Sales and Distribution Team and is responsible for analyzing the sales and revenue performance of existing products & consumer segments within the region, digging deep to reveal and is also custodian of the Sales and Revenue related reports and other key performance reports which will cover all activities across the segments, product and other performance indicators in the Commercial Team. Overall, influence decision making across the business and help in creating tangible (revenue) value.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Lead creation of digital Go-To Market strategies in line with overarching organizational goals, with emphasis on customer experience and trade adaptability, through insights, performance measurements, monitoring, tracking, forecasting and predictions.
  • Ensure effective implementation of Go-To Market strategies by means of providing direction, structure, solution designs, business plans and support.

Staff Leadership and Management

  • Performance manage resources in accordance with HR policy and legislation where necessary
  • Actively participate in leadership team and personal development of own skills
  • Promote an ‘MTN centric’ and a ‘partnership approach’ to develop strong relationships with other working groups and ensure adherence to Group governance

Ad hoc, Operational and Tactical Meetings

  • Set up /participate in ad hoc and operational meetings and participate and provide inputs in tactical meetings
  • Report at process and functional level

Escalations

  • Manage and resolve escalations that have impact on critical path of service delivery
  • Manage and provide solutions to issues that require formal resolution

Opco Operational and Tactics

  • Set up and manage project status meetings
  • Review and identify key risks, issues and dependencies and set mitigation actions
  • Provide input into the review of all projects initiated
  • Review key risks, issues and dependencies and set mitigation actions

Performance and Reporting

  • Review performance of OpCo functional areas and CoE against agreed KPIs and their compliance with SLAs and reverse SLAs
  • Review and monitor plan for continuous improvement
  • Review reports monthly relating to progress made within the sub-division and in accordance with the measurement metrics set by the Organization.
  • Review reports on an ad hoc basis on specific projects (as required)

Budgets

  • Manage sub-divisional budgets in line with business objectives
  • Manage project budgets in line with business objectives

Impact on the Business

  • Participate in the overall development and implementation Go-To Market strategies.
  • Develop and drive the long-term Go-To Market strategies for the Opco
  • Ensure alignment with Group Sales and Distribution strategies, policies and initiatives
  • Manage the change elements for the Opco from a strategic and operational level
  • Plan and implement plans for volatile growth, change and maturity within the Opco
  • Communicate with management as a true business partner and provide a deep understanding of the role that a world class Sales and Distribution practice can play in the development of the business

Distribution Management Responsibilities

  • Identify and resolve complex distribution and geo-marketing challenges in trade.
  • Re-invent and manage the delivery of digital Go-To Market strategies including.
  • Align Distribution management and Go-To Market strategies with Opco and group requirements.
  • Review, refine and operationalize digital sales and distribution management requirements.
  • Oversee and manage operations of Sales and Distribution management, Analysis & Reporting and team performance.
  • Strategically Manage stakeholders such as the sales team with frequent supply of sales and distribution analytics in trade.
  • Validate Go-To Market KPIs with business
  • Interact with the Commercial Performance Manager and Head of Sales & Distribution with constant feedback on strategies.
  • Manage constant usage of implemented digital strategies within the Go-To Market space.
  • Oversee effective management of distribution databases interactive systems.
  • Lead end to end commercial projects.

Distribution Management Activities

  • Ensure consistent and regular digital and geo-spatial visibility of sales and distributions activities in trade to relevant stakeholders, especially the sales team.
  • Ensure digital Go-To Market training of the sales team and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure smooth delivery of Go-To Market strategies.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management /Administration or any relevant degree
  • Relevant post- graduate degree or equivalent

Experience

  • 4 – 7 years relevant working experience in Sales and Distribution, Business Intelligence or Business Analysis roles
  • Similar role with a large, global, multi-cultural and multi-site organization Experience in Project Management Minimum of three (3) years’ working experience, with proven track record, as a distribution coordinator in a business environment
  • Telecommunications, Banking or FMCG industry experience Pan Africa multi-cultural experience
