Position Title: Sports for Change Facilitator

Number of Facilitators: One

Project Location(s): Lakpazee, Wood Camp, and Shoe Factory

Timeline: 16 days total engagement; December 5, 2025 – December 19, 2025

Background:

Urban Fabric Initiative (UFI) is a 24-month, project funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), also known as the French Development Agency. Mercy Corps is leading the implementation of UFI in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Public Works, Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), Paynesville City Corporation (PCC), and the Township of Gardnerville. The project aims to enhance urban development and resilience in the Monrovia metropolitan area. The project aims to enhance urban development and resilience in three targeted sub-urban communities: Woodcamp, Shoe Factory, and Lakpazee, within the Monrovia metropolitan area. The UFI seeks to achieve the overall objective of improved access, utilization, and management of public spaces resilient to the effects of climate change. Project Duration: June 2024 to March 2026.

Purpose of the Role

To support the design, contextualization, and delivery of the Sports Change curriculum through participatory mapping, manual adaptation, and training of trainers. The facilitator will ensure that the manual is relevant, inclusive, and effectively implemented across the target communities-the incumbent will also train coaches.

· Conduct participatory Sports for Change Mapping and Develop Mapping Report-No more than 5 pages

· Facilitate Focus group discussions with community leaders and stakeholders to identify local needs and opportunities.

· Lead the adaptation of the Sports for Change manual to reflect local context and develop adoption report of manual integration – not more than 5 pages.

 

 

 

5 Days

Milestone Two: Training of Trainers• Facilitate a 4-day Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop for selected coaches.

• Delivery sessions on Sports for Change methodology, facilitation skills, safeguarding, and inclusive practices.

• Provide mentorship and feedback to coaches during practice sessions.

• Support the development of action plans for coaches to implement the curriculum in their respective communities.

• Develop the Training of Trainers Report – Not more than 5 pages

 

 

5 Days

Milestone Three:

Coaching and Mentoring of Couches

· Facilitate the launch of Sports for Change activities in targeted communities by coaching and mentoring couches.

• Support the rollout of action plans for coaches to implement the curriculum in their respective communities.

· Develop Coaching and mentoring report – not more than 5 pages.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Education, Sports Development, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in curriculum development, facilitation of Mercy corps Life skills and sports development manual, required.
  • Strong understanding of youth development and sports for change Implementation and process facilitation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in urban or community development projects is an asset.
