PRIMARY FUNCTION OF JOB (Mission)
Serves as Focal Person for Learning and Development and contribute to the setting of AML’s strategic direction with an
emphasis on employee development, performance management, talent management, training, and localization and
succession planning to ensure the needs of AML employees development are align with operational goals.
MAJOR DUTIES OF JOB HOLDER Main Responsibilities. (Mention the differentiating factors, end products
and accountabilities where no signoff is needed)
In consultation with the Head of Human Resources and Development and collaboration with Heads of Department:
 Provide support and leadership to all departments and manage the Training and Development functions;
 Manage employee development plan in line with the company’s localization plan;
 Implement the localization plan (Liberalization Plan);
 Develop a succession plan including the development of career paths to ensure alignment with
localization plan;
 Maintain the annual Training and Development budget;
 Establish developmental opportunities for employees;
 Develop and manage an overall training and development plan;
 Ensure training and coaching is provided to all employees, with specific attention to National employees
as part of the Company’s Training and Localisation Plan.
 Identification of talent (internal and external), develop and manage talent pipeline.
 Provide support to management to ensure AML’s performance management and employee development
programmes (eGEDP) improve the skill and competence of the workforce.
 Facilitate the annual implementation of the performance management process to ensure effective planning and
compliance with both Regional and Corporate standards and timelines.
 Consolidate and prepare reports in consultation with corporate HR and facilitate discussions during the bi-annual
Career Committee meetings.
 Ensure timely and accurate L&D reporting to Head of Human Resources and Development and Corporate HR when
required.
Employee Development
 Assist with the Implementation of Performance Management systems that includes Performance Development
Plan(PDP) and Employee Development Program(EDP)

Education Requirements for this position (Formal qualifications)
Essential
 Tertiary Qualifications (Bachelor Degree) in a related discipline.
Desirable
 Supervisory Qualification
 Master Degree in related discipline
Key experiences needed prior to taking this position
Essential
 A minimum of 7 years professional work experience, with at least 3 years in a Senior HR/related role.
 Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
 Demonstrated ability to lead a team and improve team safety awareness.
 Familiarity with all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in Liberia.
 Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas
 Proven ability to drive and deliver results.
Desirable
 Prior experience in similar roles in Africa. Demonstrated positive outcomes will be an advantage.
Specific skills required for this position
Essential
 Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead teams of highly skilled and experienced personnel having diverse cultural
backgrounds.
 Able to clearly demonstrate the aptitude to drive a light vehicle and hold a current Liberian driver’s license or be able
to obtain one.
 Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and show a commitment to understand local
culture and impart your mining operations and technical knowledge to the local Liberian mine operations
personnel.
 Able to deliver results on quoted targets.
 Able to construct systems that are the best method now and sustainable into the future.
 Provide support without removing responsibility (to build ownership).
 Seeks to engage with all people associated with the AML Operations and to understand, learn from and share
cultural differences.
 Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and show a commitment to understand local
culture and impart your mining operations and technical knowledge to the local Liberian mine operations
personnel.

Computer Skills:
– Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and
spreadsheet applications.
Communication Skills:
– Ability to communicate effectively across all levels
– Confident communicator with senior management, legal entities and external stakeholders
– Strong report writing and presentation skills.
– Able to read and write English at an Upper Secondary School standard
