Job purpose

The teacher aid will be responsible to help monitor and teach (present) lessons prepared by the teacher to the students in the class assigned to them.

Key activities

1. Support students in the process of learning and development

• Prepare notes for students with regards to the activities in the curriculum prepared by the teacher per period.
• Provide instructions to each student by an interactive learning.
• Create and distribute education activities from lesson contents to students.
• Provide lesson aids visual / audio to facilitate learning.
• Maintain an organized classroom by setting ground rules, tidy, friendly classroom environments (classroom management).
• Conduct classes regularly and fully.
• Plan and execute educational in-class and out-class activities and events (Extra curriculum activities).
• Help the classroom teacher to write the students test in their note books.

2. Oversee each student

• Monitor the daily activity of student during class time and at break.
• Record student’s daily attendance in the register.
• Observe and understand student’s behaviour and counsel them or find disciplinary action if necessary.
• Ensure all students with learning difficulties given more time and chance to participate in class activities.
• Work with student’s government of the institution.
• Conduct social and health clubs in the school.
• Work with other teachers, registrar, parents, stakeholders, vice principal care staffs and principal (line manager) to carry out effective operations of education or to achieve your goal.
• Observe student’s health and report to care manager.

3. Working with Policies

• Support the principal by abiding with all policies (HR, Child Protection and code of conduct from Ministry of Education.)

4. Monitor students’ performance

• Assist the classroom teacher conduct vivid testing for students in line with set objectives.
• Assist classroom teacher to check students’ work and evaluate students’ performance.
• Access and record students’ grades and provide feedback to administration and parents.

5. Oversee students’ wellbeing and engagement

• Provide counselling support to students facing problem, (psychosocial, medical, difficulties in learning).
• Carryout students’ engagement surveys and ensure students full participation.

6. Reporting and Accountability

• Report to work in time and complete eight working hours per day.
• Work with the principal for guidance in preparing lesson plans and lesson notes.
• Manage and maintain school properties and facilities. Report any damaged items and theft of properties.
