About Mineke Foundation

Mineke Foundation was founded in 2009 by Tonia Dabwe to continue the work of her Liberian father and Dutch mother in Liberia. We are a fully accredited local Liberian NGO, vocational training center and private school, with three programs in Dabwe Town (near Dry Rice Market, Gardnersville):

  • Damiefa School: affordable, quality education from ABC through Grade 9, founded in 1982. Besides the Ministry of Education curriculum, the school offers Liberia Reads! reading comprehension, art education, agriculture and digital skills. It is also a WAEC examination center.
  • Women’s Club: vocational and business training, business coaching, savings groups and microloans for members.
  • Resource Center: a small library, computers and learning materials.

Our team is supported by international volunteers who support with fundraising, communications and capacity building. The Board sets strategy and oversees the organization.

We are seeking an experienced, reliable and entrepreneurial Team Coordinator/Program Director to run all of Mineke Foundation’s operations on a day-to-day basis. You manage the team, ensure targets are achieved on time and within budget, and make sure that the Board receives accurate, timely information.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & People

  • Lead the team; recruit staff for approved, budgeted posts and carry out annual staff evaluations.
  • Support staff development, including with support from our international volunteers.
  • Ensure staff comply with financial and operational policies, and report concerns to the Board without delay.

Overall/Program Management

  • Turn the Board’s strategy into an annual plan; set targets with program leads and review progress monthly.
  • Provide overall management of Damiefa School and the Women’s Club, including parent communication, the members’ microloan fund and the relationship with our Savings Club.
  • Develop the Resource Center, both for our own programs and for income generation, and provide overall management.

  • Review monthly accounts (QuickBooks), ensure monthly reconciliations and timely audits, and explain variances to the Board.
  • Develop income-generating activities and business cases for new initiatives.

Marketing & Fundraising

  • Develop marketing and enrollment strategies with staff and international volunteers, and identify and cultivate potential donors, sponsors and partners.

Operational Oversight

  • Supervise procurement, maintenance, security, sanitation and use of facilities; keep an asset register.
  • Oversee building and grant-funded projects in collaboration with Board representatives.

Reporting, Compliance & Representation

  • Write a consolidated monthly report for the Board, including key indicators and forecasts.
  • Provide input for funder, financial and annual reports; ensure international volunteers receive timely information and photos.
  • Keep all registrations and accreditations up to date and ensure compliance with government, tax and other statutory obligations.
  • Represent Mineke Foundation with ministries, local authorities, partners and the community.

What are the requirements?

  • Proven experience managing people and a budget in a school, NGO or social enterprise, in a low-resource or community-based setting.
  • Strong financial literacy and a strong commercial mindset.
