Contract Type: Full-Time, 12 months fixed term, renewable

 

Background:

Street Child is a rapidly growing, child-focused, humanitarian, and development organisation. In 2023, Street Child celebrated reaching over 1.5 million children across 25 countries over its fifteen years of existence. This was accomplished with and through a growing network of more than 200 national and local actors.

Street Child has been operating in Liberia since 2013, and since then has supported over 50,000 children to access improved protection and education services. Its c.$1m program portfolio is currently focussed on addressing the barriers to education for children in Montserrado, Margibi, Maryland and River Gee counties, in strong support of the government’s priorities.

Street Child is entering the fourth and final year of the Education for Every Child Today (EFECT) project which aims to enrol 13,500 out of school children in Liberia in education, in partnership with Education a Child (EAC). Street Child is looking for excellent Team Leads to lead delivery at County level in Montserrado, Margibi and Maryland.

Role Purpose:

Street Child is seeking three outstanding Team Leads to oversee the management of the EFECT project throughout its final year across our four counties of operation. The role holder will support the effective implementation through hands-on support and leadership of the implementation teams. Based at county level, this role will support field level staff to meet project outputs and deliverables and will require extensive travel throughout the county to monitor progress and guide implementation.

The successful candidates will report to the EFECT Project Manager and work closely with other Liberia based colleagues to ensure effective delivery of programmatic objectives as well as organisational compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1) Project Implementation – 75%
  • Supervise and support Social Workers, Business Officers and Rural Advocacy and Education Officers in the execution of their duties towards achieving project outputs.
  • Provide strong hands-on support to county-level implementation teams across all project deliverables, identifying and addressing challenges and blockages.
  • Develop county-level monthly workplans and ensure implementation teams adhere to these, and report on a weekly basis.
  • Undertake regular monitoring visits to communities benefitting from the project to verify beneficiaries and activities.
  • Provide regular updates, implementation information and monthly reports to the EFECT Project Manager
  • Manage the day-to-day running of the project county office, and hold responsibility for all Financial and Material Resources assigned to the office
  • Lead stakeholder engagement for the EFECT project at county level, including building effective working relationships with county level line Ministries, departments and stakeholder and representation in forums and meetings in and around the project location
  • Collect, record and manage all data relating to supported beneficiaries
  • With support from the MEAL team lead on project data collection, analysis and cleaning.
  • Take a lead on the verification and approval of beneficiaries at community level, ensuring compliance with project criteria
2) Reporting – 20%
  • Prepare, and contribute to, narrative and MEAL reporting for project donors.
  • Work with finance colleagues to support and review financial reporting for the project.
  • Ensure compliance with organisation and donor compliance across the project.
  • Collect and document project stories for sharing, learning and advocacy.
3) Other – 5%
  • Represent Street Child appropriately both internally and externally.
  • Coordinating staff, stakeholders and donor visits, as required.
  • A strong commitment to Street Childs vision, mission and values.

  • Carry out all reasonable requests that are within the broad remit of the role.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience and Knowledge
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in education, livelihoods or social work programming.
  • Degree or higher in International Development or a related field.
  • Relevant field experience of development programming, and as a team lead preferrable.
  • Experience of successful delivery of team objectives by working closely and collaboratively within a team at all levels.
  • Experience of data collection with online software (Commcare or Kobo), cleaning and analysis
  • Effective communication skills in English writing and verbal skills, sensitive to cultural dynamics
Skills and Abilities:
  • Good organisation and administrative skills and an ability to forward plan.
  • Coaching / Capacity Strengthening Skills.
  • Good time management skills, ability to work to tight deadlines and an ability to work under pressure.
  • A ‘can-do’, and agile attitude, a passion for problem solving and adaptive thinking.
  • Self-starter with strong motivation to succeed and ability to work independently in carrying out assigned tasks within a fast-paced team.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
