Purpose

Provide overall technical leadership and guidance to Branches, PAs, BMs, and Regional Managers to ensure quality and timely implementation of livestock and AIM activities. Routinely supervise PAs, BMs, CALPs on livestock interventions while strengthening staff capacity and service delivery. Support the development and facilitation of technical training modules and provide field-level support during cost sharing, group sessions, and home visits. Coordinate with MIS/IT teams to ensure accurate and timely BInsight reporting and support preparation of budgets, concept notes, reports, and program documents. Coordinate with government institutions, technical agencies, and service providers to strengthen program implementation and technical partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical guidance and capacity-building to BMs, field staff, participants, and community groups on livestock production, management, housing, feeding, breeding, hygiene, and disease prevention.
• Support the identification, verification, procurement, and distribution of quality livestock and related inputs in line with AIM standards and approved plans.
• Conduct and support livestock readiness assessments, participant orientation, asset selection, and household livestock development planning.
• Monitor livestock distribution, survival, growth, productivity, and utilization, and ensure timely follow-up and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Health Division, CALPs, vendors, and other technical partners to strengthen livestock health and extension services for program participants.
• Support the establishment and strengthening of livestock-related business opportunities and market linkages for AIM participants.
• Conduct regular field visits, household monitoring, coaching, and technical demonstrations to improve livestock management practices.
• Ensure proper application of livestock treatment, vaccination, biosecurity, animal welfare, and disease reporting protocols.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of Community Agriculture Livestock Promoters (CALPs) and other community-based livestock service providers.
• Maintain accurate livestock records, distribution data, monitoring tools, and participant asset tracking information.
• Prepare timely technical reports, success stories, lessons learned, and recommendations for program improvement.
• Identify implementation challenges, risks, and opportunities and provide practical solutions to improve livestock outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with AIM safeguarding, accountability, gender, inclusion.

Qualifications, Experience & Competencies

Experience:

• At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in livestock development, agricultural extension, livelihood programming, or community-based livestock projects.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Livestock Production, or a related field.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Practical knowledge of smallholder livestock production, animal health, livestock markets, and farmer/community training.
• Experience working with NGOs, development programs, youth/women livelihood initiatives, or community-based organizations is an advantage.
• Strong skills in field monitoring, training, reporting, coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to travel extensively to project communities and work effectively with rural participants and community structures.
