The GIZ Project Public Private Partnership (PPP) fund initiates development partnerships with the private sector in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. A public-private partnership combines business interests with development objectives to promote economic growth and social recovery, creating a win-win situation. The PPP Fund hereby specifically aims to improve the employment situation for 1,000 people in each country, including 30% women and 30% young people as well as to integrate six local MSMEs (net) in each country as suppliers in the value chain of a company.

For PPP Liberia we seek applications from suitable national specialists for

Position: Technician and in-company trainer

Location: Monrovia

Contract Period: Up to 70 working days (Between May and November 2023)

Purpose of the assignments

  • Installation, commissioning, and start-up of five electrical waste recycling machines: a Plastic Extruder, an Organic Composting Machine, a Plastic Mixer Machine, an Agglomerator for Plastic Crushing, and a further plastic recycling machine
  • Maintenance and Repair planning and execution for the above-listed five machines;
  • In-company, on-the-job and theoretical training for operating staff members on the operation, maintenance, and repair of the above-listed five machines.

Key tasks

  • Conduct installation, commissioning, and start-up of recycling machines;
  • Conduct general maintenance and repair of recycling machines;
  • Provide comprehensive regular maintenance and repair plan and checklists;
  • Provide procedures for break-down repairs;
  • Mentor staff members on machine operations based on operations manuals;
  • Provide theoretical and practical in-company training in machine installation, commissioning, start-up, operation, maintenance, and repair for company staff members.

Required qualifications, competencies and experience

  • Diploma qualification in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, electro-mechanics, or similar relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years of overall experience as maintenance and repair technician or service technician
  • Minimum of 2 years specific experience in installation, commissioning, start-up, and operation of machines
  • Minimum of 2 years specific experience in in-company and/or on-the-job training in electrical machines’ operation, maintenance, and repair
  • Demonstrated skills to do basic computer work (E-mails, MS Word, and MS Excel)
