Summary
Cardno seeks qualified local Training and Events Coordinator candidates for the ongoing USAID
Liberia Economic Policy Dialogue Activity (LEPDA). LEPDA works to strengthen policy-making capacity
within the Government of Liberia (GOL) and facilitate the design and implementation of specific
reforms to promote private sector-led, broad-based economic growth and development. This
activity concentrates on three main objectives: 1) Establish a policy reform process, and identify and
prioritize key reforms; 2) Establish policy unit teams (PUTs) to support policy analysis throughout
GOL; and 3) Work with think tanks and civil society to build capacity for improved policy dialogue.
The Training & Events Coordinator will report to the Chief of Party and will be responsible for:
 Overall direction, planning, management and reporting for training components of LEPDA with
training counterparts, as directed;
 Collaboration with field office technical staff and counterparts to determine priority training
needs;
 Oversight of the logistical and administrative planning and requirements for training activities
and events;
 Developing and managing a calendar of all training events;
 Monitoring progress on training components of the work plan, preparing reports and developing
updates for COP and DCOP to present to USAID as needed;
 Preparing final event reports and entering data on USAID’s TrainNet system as required;
 Ensuring that all events meet all USAID branding and marking requirements;
 Ensuring adherence to USAID regulations when issuing terms of reference for third party
suppliers and providers such as trainers, etc. and negotiating discounts for multiple events or
mass production whenever possible;
 Meeting with COP and DCOP to provide updates on current work and discuss upcoming activities
per the work plan and budget;
 Performing other tasks assigned by the Chief of Party and/or Deputy Chief of Party that are
consistent with this Scope of Work and the general requirements of the project.
Capacities Required for Position
 University degree, preferably in international development, economics, education, human
resources, or a related field
 Effective written/verbal communication skills in English
 At least 2-5 years’ experience in training and events coordination, preferably on a donor-funded
project
 Experience in preparing and organizing events/training courses
 Knowledge in economic policy preferred
 Ability to use all Windows applications
 Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently, assess priorities, and manage a
variety of activities with attention to detail
 Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate,
implement, monitor and evaluate)
 Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods and techniques
 Familiarity with the work and operational procedures of USAID is preferred
 Excellent interpersonal skills required.
