Job Title: Transport Supervisor (x1)
Location: Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County
Reporting To: Logistics Manager
Responsible For: Fleet Assistant, Drivers, Vehicle and motorbike Mechanics
Duration: Fixed Term
Job Purpose: Responsible for the effective and efficient management and safety of Concern Liberia Fleet (Vehicles and motorbikes) including the transport team based in Buchanan and Provide technical leadership towards sustainable fleet management that will contribute to the realization of Concern Liberia strategic goal 4- “greening the organization”.
Main Duties & Responsibilities – Fleet Movement & managements:
Scheduling and planning the use, movement, maintenance and repairs of vehicles thereby facilitating the most cost effective delivery of transport services to programmes. Provide PMS(preventive maintenance Schedules) guides for vehicles, bikes and generators; ensuring the compilation and completion of monthly transport reports including the analysis of transport performance; oversee effective and efficient utilization of vehicles & bikes, based on Concern Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including vehicle maintenance and fuel management and control; ensure effective utilization, fuel management & accountability, repairs and control of the fleet in Grand Bassa & Rivercess; ensure all vehicle have valid licenses, registration & insurance etc, ensure drivers/riders are accountable with tools, First Aid, Health and Safety policies etc on vehicles and bikes; participate in Fleet Forum webinars and sustainable fleet management trainings.
Staff Management:
Monitor and review performance of these staff and hold them accountable for meeting their objectives; give corrective feedback where required and take decisive action in the case of poor performance; Ensure that they are aware of and comply with all of Concern’s policies and procedures including the transport policy and let them be aware of any communication shared that concerns them; Ensure that work within the team is planned and organised in a way that will meet the organisation’s needs in the most cost effective manner possible; ensuring that team members are given appropriate workloads and are working efficiently and that gaps due to leavers or annual leave are managed; Ensure that they have accurate job descriptions and that they fully understand outcomes which are expected of them, by setting SMART objectives; Ensure drivers and mechanics are accountable for tools, First Aid, etc in their vehicles and garage; Ensure team members have the appropriate training for the proper operation of the equipment and assets assigned and for accurate reporting including the inputting of data into the DDGs; Lead in organising training trainings for new motorbike riders and refresher trainings for continuing riders; Perform any other duties that maybe assigned by Line Manager; Technical supervision of mechanics and advise of repairs etiquette2
Experience & Qualification:
∙ Relevant degree from a recognised institution; Technical qualification / Post graduate diploma/degree preferred related to the function; ∙ At least 3 years’ experience in a transport/logistics function with INGOs or transport company;
∙ Excellent networking and negotiating skills; the ability to maintain confidentiality & discretion whilst dealing with administration issues; ∙ Good attention to detail and demonstrated ability to deliver on work objectives to a high quality and on a timely basis are all essential competencies for this role;
∙ Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, organizational, leadership and negotiation skills;
∙ Computer literacy with proficiency in Excel and comfortable in working with computers with minimal IT support;
∙ Driving skills;
∙ Fleet and Team management skills;
